Omaha, NE - September 11, 2008 (NP) - Tardrite Corporation today announced the release of the 2009 model year "ANGUS" helmet for hard-core and heavily damaged rock and roll retards.  The release comes on the same day that AC/DC announced their North American tour.  Dr. Aryu Fukkinkiddenme, a long time researcher into the causes of AC/DC-related mental defects, stated "Mr. Young would have been better off staying away from the bad influences of life, and now suffers from severe rock and roll brain damage.  We at Tadrite encourage fans of the band to wear the helmet before attending any of the shows for fear of a similar fate."

ANGUS YOUNG YOU ARE A ROCK AND ROLL RETARD!!!

I LOVE YOU MAN

On the 25th of July 1980, AC/DC released Back In Black and despite some well played FM airplay, I was not, in my senior year of high school, a big AC/DC fan.

In my mind, they were overamplified and undertalented and more of a Ringling Bros act than a band.

In college, I met Chris, a huge AC/DC fan and a person that would become one of my dearest friends.

He was the one that made me strip off my bias against AC/DC, and listen to the Bon Scott AC/DC and appreciate the raw, powerful, in your face, if-it-is-about-cars-or-girls-or-whiskey AC/DC that I now understand.

We all have an inner-Angus.
AN INNER ANGUS
It is just a question of whether we are brave enough to let him come forth.

I implore all of you, pick up a copy of Powreage and a bag of weed and listen closely.
Then go to the show, and watch closely.
I think, if you are truly willing, you will understand.

What's that?

Oh sure, here ya go...

i have no interest in seeing these goat heads live.  i just cannot take them seriously at all.  what might be a cool prop for them during this outing is if angus brings back that back pack/school book thing he wears on his back.  i remember going to see them awhile back in toronto when they played the for those about to rock album....i walked out.

their new song rock and roll train is fun..........thats about as far as i'll go with this gang  the lead singer sounds like he is straining these days....he sounds horrible.  one would figure a band of this caliber could find someone who is audible and can sing for gods sake.

:wtf1

Well stand back so the rest of us can tickets!

I saw them in Toronto in 2003 and THEY KICKED THE STONES' ASSES!!

The sound was awesome.

Angus was awesome.

Look at the setlist -- tons of the old shit

THEY OPENED WITH HELL AIN'T A BAD PLACE TO BE

Brian Johnson was NEVER, EVER a good voice.

Doesn't matter!
Wake the fuck up!

AC/DC puts on a loud rocking live show, and as long as they still 'got it' then it's worth $100 no doubt.

I heard Riffy play their new song on the radio today, and it rocks!

Joey i will be on the 5:15.........................................

Tom!  Say it ain't sooooooo!!!!

And I do agree with ya and back up your sentiments regarding Ticketbastard....those rip-off artists!

I too, patiently waited for 10am to roll around and could not get SHIT - couldn't even get in to GET a nosebleeder!  It was 10:10 (and sold out) so, for shits and giggles I took a peek at e-bay and stub-hub....mutha fuckers were getting dropped down a dime a dozen...

wtf?!!!

But - with my keen persistence - I knew a 2nd show would be added.  I was locked and loaded.  10:30 rolled around and BAM! - here came the 2nd show.

I am now the proud owner of 2 floor seats along the catwalk.

Honestly - it doesn't break my heart that I'm missing the 1st show - it's on a Thursday and it's sucks to go to a show during the week...  The 2nd one is on a Saturday....and I like Saturdays  ;)

I am so sorry you couldn't get a ticket, Tom.  Poopie is undecided on whether or not he wants to go.  I would proudly have you as my escort if he chooses not to!

...but, I have to ask.  Why in the hell were you only trying to get one ticket?  Isn't Nanky going??????  He's been JONESIN' for this show!!!

I pulled a 7th row single for the Forum show but didn't like the paperless ticket only option so I threw it back. I will probably grab a nosebleed on the cheap outside but if this is the way it's going to be for all big shows in the future, well I have just about had it with big shows anyway.

All Atlanta tickets were $89.50 plus the usual bs charges. Cant see paying the same way up top as someone down close. There all gone anyway so not that I care now....Amazing though when you figure at 18,000 per show they gross $1,620,000 a night where Stones ABB had some nights at stadiums like 8 mill...So if they do 30 shows they'll gross around 48 mill....Think this tour will have legs though and expand beyond current markets and dates.

Oh crap. I just tried every venue and its sold out, all but one way. When I checked 'patron with disability, wheelchair transfer to aisle seat' a ticket popped up. If I buy the ticket and show up without a wheelchair, what could they do? Throw me out? I can say I was in a wheelchair when I bought the ticket, but since then a miracle occurred and I no longer need it. Anyone know?

OK heres the scoop on BLACK ICE ~ There are TWO DIFFERENT COVERS! Black with red  AC/DC lettering AND Black with YELLOW AC/DC lettering, yellow is the limited special edition, both the great Wal-Mart price of $10.88 plus tax. I got the last limited edition, and the CD's are flying off the shelves, seriously only one special edition was left and the shelf was almost empty. Good for them coz BLACK ICE ROCKS after only one play! woo hoo!  The cover rocks too, black on black, really cool looking!

Black Ice is a great rock album..... the production is amazing, the songs are consistently strong...... AC/DC HAVE introduced a few new elements into their sound, but without compromising what they are about at all.

Brian Johnston's voice is back in the mix... the lyrics are only a vehicle for his voice, so it is not the main ingredient. It's not Bob Dylan. And like I say the production is fantastic... The guitars sound is perfect, the bass drives wonderfully, and the drums are recorded crisply and sound spacious while not losing the 'band sound' vibe one bit.

I think it will be one of the years biggest albums, if not THE biggest, and I think it will be an AC/DC classic... kind of like a 'Back in Black' II.

Lovers of hard rock should check it out!!! I give it 5 stars.

ICING THE BUCK: AC/DC hit Wal-Mart stores yesterday and are reportedly blowing the doors off of the retail giant. We are told that sales for the exclusive Black Ice release are out-pacing the Eagles' first week, which was also a Wal-Mart exclusive. Estimates for first week are currently ranging between 750k and 900k, which would make it the biggest Sony BMG release in the past two years, besting Alicia Keys' 742k mark set last November. It would also make it the biggest rock release from any label over the last two years, beating the 721k sold by Coldplay last June. Will it have enough steam to catch the one- million march? Stay tuned. (10/21p)

Awesome, sometime this Thursday/Friday, Black Ice will surpass the ABB album total (545k) of 3+ years.

popular concensus seems to be that this is a cracking return to form for the band. must admit I got my hopes up after reading all the positive reviews, but felt it didn't meet my expectations upon the first few spins.

Reckon Stiff Upper Lip was a lot more instantaneous, this seems like an album which will grow in appreciation upon repeated listens. my mate agrees too.

At the moment I'm not rating it as highly as For those about to Rock, Razors Edge, or Stiff upper Lip as the post 'Back in Black' albums with Beano.

Might change my opinion once I've listened to it a few more times.

This album rocks. It only suffers,as ABB did from been too long .

WHY do bands insist on filling up a cd ? What will happen with the next format ..........................4 hour albums ?

The title track's riff is fucking awsome !

Still haven't got tickets, but I've got 6 months yet. Hope they do some stadiums.

I can normally take AC/DC in small doses, but I downloaded this and really like it - although I agree it's maybe a little long, but after 8 years you can hardly blame them.

Really like "Spoilin' For A Fight". Would have fitted nicely amongst all those aggressive songs on 'Undercover' or 'Dirty Work'.

Got a feeling, DC will announce something big in the Uk before too long, it's been reported in the red tops that they will announce more dates, but i think something like milton Keynes bowl, or donnington should be called for.

Luckily enough I've got my ticket for Birmingham, but all of my hairy mates weren't so lucky and they are all gagging to go. ticket of the year this one.

Hi everybody!
It has been a lot of fun being part of the "Yellow Route" of the AC/DC Caravan leaving Knoxville and ending up in Wilkes-Barre for the final dress rehearsal for the "Black Ice" tour! I got to do a lot of things over the last 4 days but it is good to be back home. I did tape the show but being caught up in the moment I did have my levels a little too high so there is some "clipping" and for that I appologize. I hope you like it anyway for what it is.

Enjoy!

Dear Nanky & TomL...

Buckle up your seat-belts, boyz!
The train is rollin' in and it doesn't STOP!!!

I am still tone-deaf - no kidding!  Fuckers hit me - and they hit me HARD!
... it will be DAYS before I resume the hearing in my right ear, lol

You two are going to have the HUGEST grins (chiba induced first and foremost, I'm sure...) but goddammit you are going to be two happy little fuckers by evening's end!

No doubt about it - THEY ROCKED! ...just like I knew they would!

Cliff and Phil look great (aging gracefully) - Malcolm never changes (God love him...) - Brian looks FABULOUS...he's lost weight and it really makes a difference in his performance - And my little Angus.... omg...  as always, a sheer delight to watch!  He's incredible.  I have to say his stamina is still something to be admired, but he has toned things down a notch (as far as the physical aspect goes...the head-banging and stomping have decreased immensely!)  But the strummin' hasn't been affected by his aging AT ALL.

Did I mention - THEY ROCKED!

Nanky - I tried calling your cell - can't say for certain if the call ever went through - couldn't hear shit on your end.  Tom - why don't I have your cell # in my phone?  (Thought I did...)  You would have gotten a tease as well.  I was able to get through to LJ, but again - I couldn't hear a fucking thing.

A few things for you two to look forward to:
>  The opening - the animation was great & wait 'til you see the fucking train on the stage!

>  The catwalk - (I hear you have floor seats?) dudes are very accessible - use it to your advantage!

>  "The Bell" - it would not be AC~DC without "The Bell"!

>  "Rosie" - Oh yeah, that hagged groupie tramp is still part of the act, lol

>  Very nice album cover tribute during "Let There Be Rock" - don't miss it!!!

>  The cannons - *sigh* - it's always a pleasure to have your eardrums vibrate for up to 12 hours after the fucking show!

Did I tell you THEY ROCKED!!!

THEY DID!!  They brought their old school and their Black Ice 'A-Game' with 'em.

Sorry about the shitty cell phone pictures...But, I have more (extremely much better) on my camera (that I accidentally left at my sister's today)...I'll get them to you guys as soon as I get it back.

And for anyone else - GET A TICKET!  Do NOT miss this show!

much love to ya'll...
~p

(P.S.  Thanks, mr. riffin - for the link!)

Awesome show!!!  Same setlist as last posted.

Globe review....
While change is being cheered in some corners of the world right now, the members of AC/DC know that there is also some value in sticking to your guns. Or, in their case, cannons.

Last night at the TD Banknorth Garden, "Hells Bells" rang out, the walls were shaking, the big guns blazed in salute to those who had rocked, and for 1 hour and 40 minutes nobody worried about their 401(k). For a hard-rock concert, you could scarcely ask for a more satisfying escape. But AC/DC offered it, in the form of lead guitarist Angus Young's vivid, joyous solos and lead singer Brian Johnson's just-gargled-with-Rustoleum howl.

The pair led the band and the devil's horn-throwing - and wearing - sold-out crowd of 15,000 through a night of old songs, and new songs that sound like old songs.

There were a few frills - aside from those cannons, a locomotive chugged onstage to announce opener "Rock 'n' Roll Train" - and plenty of thrills delivered with heat and heart. There was no milking of "TNT" or adding new stretches of road to "Highway to Hell." This was lean, clean riffage and four-on-the-floor whomp at its most pure. As Johnson said during "Shoot to Thrill," "It's rock 'n' roll boogie; just let it creep right on through you."

Perhaps most impressive was the shockwave the group sent through songs so ubiquitous they've become almost inaudible over the years. Johnson's mischievous grin and laddish gusto and Young's white-hot precision managed to sear the residue off songs like "You Shook Me All Night Long" and "Thunderstruck" caked on by overuse and abuse by cover bands and classic rock radio, and at ball games and strip clubs. And the lascivious bump-and-grind of "The Jack" remains a guilty pleasure as Young continues his silly striptease tradition, though now he only gets down to his AC/DC-branded boxers from his schoolboy uniform.

He may still embrace his inner adolescent, but Young's guitar playing is that of a man his age (53) with plenty of experience in the woodshed. His fretwork was the picture of economy throughout the night, but he got his guitar hero on for a fiery solo during "Whole Lotta Rosie" - complete with a blow-up representation of the titular gal - and let loose with an epic ripper on "Let There Be Rock." He careered from speedy runs to piercing sustains while duckwalking and flailing about the stage with abandon.

At 35 years deep and with 70 million records sold, the boys in AC/DC know exactly what their fans like, and the recently released "Black Ice," their first album in eight years, reflects that. Not surprisingly, it sounds like most of the ones that came before it, so the tunes from it - including the swinging title track - fit in just fine last night.

Irish rockers, and clear AC/DC devotees, the Answer opened the show with a complementary sound and attitude.

Herald review.....
Angus Young is 53. Let that sink in. The guy in the purple, crushed-velvet schoolboy outfit bouncing down the catwalk in front of 15,000 people tearing through dirty blues Clapton can’t play is 53 years old. Wow.

Last night at packed-to-the-rafters TD Banknorth Garden, AC/DC fired off classic rock hit after classic rock hit sounding, and acting, like the young lads they were 30 years ago. OK, so with a combined age of 281, the quintet’s lost a step. But with the amount of beer guzzled and weed toked, nobody cared.

The band began with “Rock ’n’ Roll Train” - the opener of its new Wal-Mart exclusive, “Black Ice.” New stuff usually doesn’t go over well with the classic rock crowd, but as the album’s gone platinum in just the last two-and-a-half weeks, a shocking number of fans had their beers in the air in a rock ’n’ roll salute.

But no AC/DC show begins until Angus heats up. During “Hell Ain’t a Bad Place to Be” he was hot. On “Back in Black,” smoke was rising from the fretboard of his iconic Signature SG. But it was on “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” that those devil horns began to poke through his schoolboy cap and he burst into flames.

From here on out it was all Angus. Singer Brian Johnson is to be commended -the bloke never could sing, so it’s amazing he’s still able to wheeze and wail through almost two hours of stadium pleasers. The rhythm section of brother Malcolm Young on guitar, Cliff Williams on bass and Phil Rudd on drums - half the night with a burning cigarette between his lips - hit a groove and kept it nailed down. But everyone came for Angus.

The pint-sized, bar-blues genius - who looked more like Gollum than a rock god - tore through “The Jack,” “Shoot to Thrill” and “T.N.T.” with the moxy of a reform school-bound ninth-grader. And during “Let There Be Rock” - Angus’ big showpiece - it wasn’t his duck walk or on-the-ground flailing or the platform at the end of the catwalk that carried him 30 feet in the air that made it so awesome. It was the riffs. The kick-in-the-groin, simple-and-savage, rock ’n’ roll riffs.

Attention Wal-Mart shoppers, your minds have just been blown!

Few claim AC/DC as the greatest rock band of all time, but if rock’s about two things - sex and rebellion - then these guys may be No. 1. Or at least that’s what everybody at the Garden thought when the band blasted through an encore of “Highway to Hell” and “For Those About to Rock.”

You know when sexy celebs have utterly average kids? Well, that’s what AC/DC opener the Answer was. AC/DC and Led Zeppelin had a kid. Its rock was as average as Rumer Willis.

They ALWAYS deliver.  It was a great show.  Nice set list, great effects.  I've seen them more than a dozen times since 1981 and I can state that Angus' playing is better than ever.  He might run around less and do less head-bobbing, but the playing remains superb.  The show's a little shorter, about 105 minutes give or take!  Brian's voice remains a wonder.  And though they may have cranked it down a little since the 80's, they remain LOUD!!!!!  The ears only just stopped ringing this morning!  The opening video sequence and train is a hoot!

Yes, there is PA.

A little Irish band called "the answer" - never heard of them and only caught 1/2 of their stuff.  The other 1/2 was wasted on me milling around trying to buy a fricken program!  They were on for 45 minutes - AC/DC hit the stage 15 minutes later.

I don't know if they are touring with them the entire time, though.

Hope this helps.

And for god's sake - DON'T miss the opening!
(you'll thank me later  :) )

they're from Downpatrick in Northern Ireland - about 20 miles from me. They opened a few shows for the Stones and the Who in summer 2007 as well.

Nice work if you can get it. As far as I know, they're touring with AC/DC for the forseeable future.

On a dreary and rainy day the horns came out to play. With my partner in crime Nanky we vested out to see if Mr. Young still had it. Well let me tell you he still has it. Angus did not disappoint the 20,000 people that came to see him and the band play. That crazy bastard can still rock the house down to the ground. I do not think one person sat the whole show; heads were bobbing for 120 minutes straight. The band was on fire and every song was rocking. If you have not seen them in awhile and they are not coming to your home town, pick the closest city and make the trek. They did four songs off the new one, all great. They opened with Runaway train the first track off the new one. They did both jacks new and old, and track 4 off the new one which is also one of my favs. With a wealth of songs to choose from they made the right choices. Hells Bells, thunder struck, Back in black, Highway to hell, whole lotta of Rosie, for those about to rock, black ice and about 8 other classics (I’m sure the set has been posted) my head was still ringing when we got back to the casa del smoky about 11:45, where the madness was digested and debated until about 4AM. I have to put this one up there with some of my bests and I could have not seen it with a better person. Again see this one if you can make it…… PURE ROCK N ROLL.

"Back in Black" took on renewed resonance Monday night as AC/DC blasted through it just three songs into its visit to the Wachovia Center, on its first world tour in seven years. Playing a rapid-fire clip of classics as well as several cuts off the new Black Ice, the reinvigorated, Australian-born band provided a deafening level of rock power, belying the fact that most of its members are now in their 50s.
Barrel-chested singer Brian Johnson, 61, and blistering lead guitarist Angus Young brought bruising force to their by-now-familiar routine. Young arrived in his mischief-making schoolboy uniform - with a hat and tie, and pale, skinny legs sprouting from his short pants - leaving Johnson a more robust, steadfast presence by comparison.

If Johnson could no longer ascend to the upper register demanded by certain songs, his gruff roar and rabble-rousing wail were otherwise unfazed by time. The band's other three members - including Angus' brother, rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young - also performed powerfully, if somewhat in the background.

Pyrotechnics and large-scale props accompanied AC/DC's monster-truck riffs and thundering choruses, whether it was the inflatable title character of "Whole Lotta Rosie" or a remarkably realistic locomotive for the set opener "Rock 'N' Roll Train," the first single from Black Ice.

A capacity crowd raged along with such generation-uniting anthems as "Hell's Bells," "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap," "Thunderstruck," and the encore-capping "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)," complete with smoking cannons. Famously dense with innuendo, the enduring "You Shook Me All Night Long" felt a little limp this time, especially next to the chest-pounding swagger of "TNT."

Still, the band members proved first and foremost to be entertainers. Sweaty and well-muscled in a black shirt with cut-off sleeves, Johnson strutted confidently across the stage and down a catwalk leading through the floor seats, preaching to and clasping the hands of the congregation.

Young, meanwhile, stripped lasciviously down to his shorts, shoes, and socks during the finale of "The Jack," briefly revealing boxer shorts with the AC/DC logo emblazoned on the backside. He later spun on the floor of a raised platform while plundering his fretboard to extend his show-stealing role in "Let There Be Rock."

Black Ice may be AC/DC's first album since 2000, but despite debuting just a month ago and being available only at Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, and the band's Web site, it's poised to be the year's best-selling rock album.

Likewise, this massive six-month world tour has been a long time coming and proved worth the wait. If anyone can shake rock music out of its identity crisis and reclaim its roots, it's AC/DC.

in rememberance of one of the greatest songs from the 60s...
from none other than the easybeats...
check out angus and malcolm's unusually tall big brother on lead guitar.
sublime....

hi tex - it's the short guy George Young .

you know it's funny I came to this thread thinking I would mention the easybeats but you beat me to it - great minds as they say  ;)

yes the easybeats rocked and they were my favourite band when I was a kid not least because they were australian  - tho as you may be aware they were all new comers - the Youngs were, of course, from scotland - and the tall guy harry vanda was dutch

they had some great songs

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=uiVTDCuWZZk&feature=PlayList&p=2F212A1C54C0C705&playnext=1&index=15

I always thought the singer Stevie Wright, who was English, had one of the classic  rock and roll voices - right up there with mick and steve marriot.

Have you heard Evie by him - written by Vanda /Young  it's epic - (it's a pity there is no real video)

Part 1 http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=JMPmGbjW8mk

Part 2 http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=q6ktdC_rgUA

Part 3 http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=i08Y9Z959n8&feature=related

he ended up a sad case 'tho... a waning star after the band broke up he descended into petty crime and ill health on the back of a drug problem

stoned aussie,
thanks for that clip,
i didn't anything about the easybeats exept firday on my mind,
but what a great fucking song! i love that clip, the lead singer had that impish vibe...
those guitars are fantastic and that lead riff is brilliant and impossible to play...
i don't why i thought it was the tall, blond guy - it makes no sense!

I saw AC/DC last night at the Tacoma Dome and all I can say is OH MY GOD, THEY ROCKED!!!!!!!! From the first song "Rock & Roll Train" to the closing "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)" the show was nonstop energy Angus Young is insane, for the whole two hour plus show he never stopped moving. They sounded incredible. I saw them eight years ago in Sacramento and this show was just as good if not better.

Saw the boys last night in Oakland. Pretty much what everybody else has said. Good show. We got there right after the opening act and were pleased to find out we had pretty good seats on the side of the stage. Good view. Then we wondered whether we would be able to handle the sound. Didn't bother us at first, but after 2 hrs. Ughhh, the ears were ringing. No we didn't do earplugs. Anyway, tight well rehearsed set. Show began to liven up as they did The Jack and Shoot to Thrill (best song of the night). From then on Angus took over and it was the Angus Young show, as the rest of the band just stayed out of his way. Fun show, but man I'm getting old. These weekday shows are rough.

I just listened to Live At The Nokia. Painful.

I was fully prepared to pay full face value for an AC/DC ticket but I just realized I haven't paid more than $25 for anything all year so I decided unless a ticket falls out of the sky (not outside the realm of possibilities) I will most likely be sitting this one out.

Last time I saw them in 1991 I traded the Sherilyn Fenn Playboy issue to a Twin Peaks freak for a lawn ticket.

It was the second hottest October since the Civil War in LA and we are still experiencing what is called an Indian Summer. Actually it will be up in the morning. Weird procedure where they don't open up torrents to the masses right away.

However you can still grab this Ice T show over at the Trader's Den

It wasn't the drinking, it was probably seeing how much the T-shirts and beer cost.
