Title: Rolling Stones on the Clay Cole Show Post by KMC on Aug 22nd, 2008 at 6:51am
Clay Cole was a local dj/tv show host in the NY area in the early 1960's. He had the Stones on at least two times following the release of 12X5. They did several numbers as headliners. Performers were either up and coming or local bands. Songs were lip synched, production was amateurish, audiences were small, but it was all fun. I THINK I remember them doing “Time is On My Side,” “It’s All Over Now,” and want to say “Empty Heart” among others.
I remember one song starting while the group was just standing around. Sheepish grins and then jumping into it. Another segment, the group took questions from the audience - a girl asking Brian about his “Beatles” boots. I have never seen tapes of these shows in circulation. Anybody out there have them or heard of them? |
