Title: Keith working with Jack White in Nashville! Post by Gazza on Aug 14th, 2008 at 4:21pm Rolling Stone rolls into town to work with Jack White by Brad Schmitt August 14th, 2008 - 3:22 pm Ain’t that cool? Rolling Stones lead guitarist Keith Richards flew into Nashville on a private jet around noon Tuesday, Brad spies tell me. And he went right to the Forest Hills area home of rocker Jack White, he of White Stripes and Raconteurs fame. The two holed up for about 11 hours. And then Keith went back to the private airstrip and left town shortly before midnight. No word on what might result from said collaboration. See news clip here : http://musiccitytv.com/ Thanks to gmanp on IORR for the tip |

I thought Keith was pretending not to know who Jack was in the Shine a Light press frenzy.

Title: Re: Keith working with Jack White in Nashville! Post by Ian Billen on Aug 20th, 2008 at 3:55am Quite interesting. I wonder why nothing more has leaked out about the meeting/collaboration or whatever? Is Jack working on anything at the moment we know of? Ian |

Cant imagine that a visit to someone's home lasting a few hours would leave much open to be 'leaked', Ian. Jack's been touring with the Raconteurs this summer. |

-yeah they are playing in Edinburgh next week, some friends are going and want me to go along. I wasn't going to go but if there is hope of a new Keith song, or even an appearance then I might change my mind!! lol ::) |

Gazza Wrote:
"Cant imagine that a visit to someone's home lasting a few hours would leave much open to be 'leaked', Ian." ______________________________ Well there WAS a reason for flying all the way into seeing Jack White and only for less than a day before leaving... My guess is it was more than just to sit and have a cup of tea and discuss the weather for 11 hours before taking a plane back to wherever. Whether it was for Jacks benefit, or Keith's I think they definitely discussed something and there was a definite purpose to the meeting. We are not talking about Gram Parsons in 1970 for weeks on end we are talking Jack White in 2008 for less than even a night over. Something was up with it if it required Keith flying into see him. Not saying it is Rolling Stones related, but I am guessing if this is indeed true (and everything is factual about how and when the meeting took place), it was for some type of project. That is why I wondered if Jack was working on a Raconteers album at the moment. Thought maybe he wanted Keith to do a spot on something. Ian |

I doubt the Racs are working on another album, their last one just came out. And the White Stripes never collaborated with anyone else before, did they? I bet they were just jamming and messing around. It'd be cool to see Jack involved in a future Stones album, though.

Saturday my wife's going out of town.
Sunday morning Keith is flying to the Chesterfield (Missouri) Airport by private jet. I'll pick him up in my old car and drive him the eight miles to my house where we'll work on a few of my songs. He's nice that way. All he asked for in return is a 12-pack of Bud, a bottle of Rebel Yell and some fresh-from-the-oven lamb samosas. |

thats not what I'm saying. The point is they werent in a studio. They were in someone's home on a private visit. So, with less witnesses etc, its hardly the same environment where you'd get much possibility of information being "leaked" |

Someone saw Keith last night in front of the Loew's Imax theatre on broadway. (really)
Jack White was not anywhere around. This thread is old Maybe Keith was retrieving some guitar he accidentally gave Jack to use during the movie shoot. |

I actually meant that I wondered why nobody in either camp, organization, management, some representative or even an insider did not mention that they were doing something together with possibly more detail. I am sure there are a few representatives, management, or family members or at least a few other people than only Keith and Jack that know what it was about and may of given something away about it by now (I realize this only took place week ago, but still they could of been talking about doing something for a while. Also, it does not take long for info to start to be let out especially in todays "internet age"). Thought someone might of let more out, or knew about it that may of said something by now is what I meant. I think we both agree, it was not to simply just to have a doobie and talk about the success of Shine A Light. Being as who the two people are, their brief history (few years), the physical distance between them at the time, and the short time frame (suppose ably not even over night) Keith took to flying to see him and then stayed for a day, there was a definite purpose to it. I expect Keith was there seeing if him and Jack could achieve the "ancient form of weaving". Audition, that's what it was. I could actually see it happening, except Jack White isn't English, and that's a killer.

Nah. Even in the internet age, its not as widespread as you make it out to be. Its just the public thirst for information tends to be more impatient and insatiable. Not every artist's every public or private move gets leaked and scrutinised in minute detail a la Britney Spears. And friends and employees dont leak everything for a simple reason - word tends to get back that they're unreliable and untrustworthy and thats why they get fired! Keith manages to keep a low public profile for most of the time when he's not working with the Stones...and I doubt the reason for that is that he's sitting in his library for 11 months of the year. |

Need I say more. And that proves what? Precisely nothing. You want to give one example of something leaking - I can reply with a thousand examples of things that dont. Someone walking past Bono's house and making a low fi unlistenable piece of crap (of what may not even be the finished album) is hardly tantamount to an album "leaking out". And bootlegging is an entirely different world from some lackey feeding some info to the media. Pretty much every U2 album in the last decade has been subject to something like this (which makes you wonder if some of it isnt a publicity stunt). Hasnt happened once with the Stones in their entire career. The Steel wheels stuff that was offered on here two years ago this month only came about because Chuch Magee's widow passed it on to a fan who generously chose to share it. Seventeen years after the songs were recorded. The ABB stuff I unearthed was copied from someone using a shared storage facility with the Stones at Sterling Studios..it still didnt come out for two years afterwards...and the Voodoo lounge material only leaked because Ronnie Wood's son stole the tapes (Woody was the source for the DW outtakes as well, incidentally) Gazza Wrote: Jack White doesn't need the work. ________ Well yes, we certainly know that. Ronnie Wood was broke for a decade after he joined the Stones. He even had to start selling his paintings to avoid bankruptcy. Anyone replacing him would be a salaried employee and nothing more. If you think White needs or is going to get respect from the entertainment industry by jettisoning two hot and big selling bands to take a sideman role in the Stones, you're deluding yourself. The guy dances to the beat of his own drum. THAT is one of the reasons why he's the respected and sought after musician that he is. |

Maybe Keith dropped by to see how a guitar player writes decent tunes these days.Or he really was just in Tennessee to get some vintage Jack D for his bar.Or to see if White was interested in replacing Ronnie. Or if Jack knows where Willie grows his best weed.Or he was bored in the Hamptons and went touring. One thing for sure..in 11 hours at Jack's house not in a studio nothing creative took place we'll ever care about.
