I love Mick's blues harp in Feel On Baby.  That's an under rated song.  I love ABB but I don't think that Rain Falling Down is that great.  Not one of my favorite songs on that album.

Yup, Feel On Baby is very over rated. Very.

Just thought they both had the same feel to em.

Terrifying also has the same feel I think.

I like FOB too, just a well matched comparison.

Like Let Me Down Slow  vs  Yellow Cab.

Sorry--threads headed with one song "versus" another are the domain of closed-down shit-holes; they don't belong here.

I think "Too Much Blood" is considerably more similar to "Rain Fall Down" than "Feel On Baby". "Feel On Baby" is more experimental although it is not completely dissimilar to RFD.

I think RFD is a much "stronger" track than "Feel On Baby".  Meaning it is much more of a song you would choose as a top song to include on an album where as some folks could feel "Feel On Baby" is nothing more than spruced up filler or even a throw away track. "Feel On Baby" does not hold the weight Rain Fall Down does.

did you mean to say it was "underrated" ?

terrific song. Although the 12" dub version is better.

for a 'throwaway track', I'd personally rate it as possibly the best song on 'Undercover'

I would pick RFD over FOB any day.

RFD has a very contemporary feel to it, like something that a young band like Franz Ferdinand would do. Yet it has all the classic hallmarks of funky 70's Stones, showing how much the Stones influenced the stuff out there today.

I remember watching the debut of the video on channel 4 a few years back, it was great to see the boys on TV.

My friend Gearoid (Irelandcalling4) and I have often joked about the lyrics to RFD, incorporating them into the place's we have been at the time (Dublin, Glasgow, London). I think that the lyrics to the track let it down a bit, "stink was in my nose" etc, but its the groove and scratchy guitar riff that save it for me.

It certainly does take the middle of that album into a totally different place - along w/Pretty Beat Up & TMB the album "goes groove" for a little while . . . wish it came back to the rock 'n' roll with a stronger track than Too Tough, especially considering how awesome All the Way Down is and how much better it would sound after Feel On Baby.

Personally, though, I'll take Rain Fall Down over it.  If this track is such a "typical" Jagger/Clifford collaboration why does it have so much more menacing noir feel than anything on, say, Goddess?  Very cool song, with some of the better lyrics on ABB.

Hate to say it, but RFD kind of sucks.  FOB doesn't, and is pretty good, with a very nice chord progression during the verse.

Are you serious...

Gazza, I gotta say, you have the strangest taste (not bad taste or wrong necessarily...some times I just don't get it).

'Rain Fall Down' so much more coherent a song that 'Fell On Baby'

I do like FOB though, it's place on 'UnderCover' along with the terrific 'Too Much Blood' & 'Pretty Beat Up' constitutes a wonderful 3-song groove fest!  Great mood created in that track, love the percussion and the extended outro. Lyrics a wee bit so-so, it's an addictive song though.

'Rain Fall Down' is another story - brilliant song, imo one of the very best on ABB.  It simply cooks! As the gentleman & scholar Jaymze testified to a few posts ago, it has been a soundtrack of sorts to wandering around London, Glasgow & Dublin before stones gigs^  That bit in the middle with Mick, Lisa & Bernard 'oooh'-ing before the guitar solo, one of the grooviest moments of ABB music. Love the whole vibe of the tune, contemporary sounding yet also echoing the late seventies stones funk sound. Brilliant!

Well stated. I thought the live performance of it was better than expected.

Interesting comparison, I like both songs, and Gazza"s mention of the 12" version reminds me of the 12" Single of U C of the Night I listened to a few times in late 1983 before UC came out.

Not that it really matters, but I think Feel On is a Keith track, he actually does quite a bit of singin in it if memory serves, maybe only on the 12" version. Need to check if I have that one somewhere as an MP3.

But yes, Feel On is no comparison to RFD overall that had much bigger ambitions.
