I got my first speeding ticky by speed camera. I wasn't speeding Ronnie! My options are----->

1. Pay it.

2. Contest it & go to court.

3. Contest it, go to court & request that a speed monitoring system operator be present in court.

I'd just pay it like an honest, conscientious and upright citizen and then tell the judge or court clerk to go F--- him/herself.

I got pulled over and got my first ticket early this year, for the first time ever in my life. Cop said I cut them off on Market St. in SF. The cop car was going 5 mph, and I went around them, having to make a right turn a bit ahead of where they were. I was going to fight it, I didn't have the time. I took the $ hit and the point on my DL. I even asked the cop for a first time ever pull over and over 40 break and a warning. I assume the bad economy and city budget problems weren't helping my case...
FG, is the cost worth the time and hassle. It's so lame, sorry they got you too...

FG, is there a surcharge attached to your insurance for such an infraction?
Here in the PROM (Peoples Republic of Massachusetts) it's a three year hitch
for higher insurance. That alone would be my MO for contestation....

Well then see what the Camera has to say for itself in court.It's also a good idea to use black tape on your license plates to change numbers.Like a 3 can be made into an 8 etc.

Ask yourself if you could possibly have been speeding 12 mph faster than allowed.
If your answer is: NO WAY man, then the camera might have been set up faulty.
In that case a lot of other folks would've gotten trapped also. Some of 'em will step up in protest and back your theorie.

Nellcote, no this ticky won't affect ins. premiums.

Besides, I wasn't speeding. The camera tagged me at 9:50am, and I was going to my nearby 10:30am dr. appt. I had PLENTY of time, and had absolutely no reason to speed.

Besides the street in question is a major city road where the speed limits vary from 35mph to 45 mph.

Try to have the court date moved, thus increasing the likelyhood that the officer will not be present (if there is an officer who gave you the ticket, not a machine or camera). Good luck anywho!

Got my only ticket {going 39 in a 25 zone} in the 70's. I went to court, and agreed to go to Defensive Driving School... ::) I did, and didn't have anything on my record. Don't know if that's an option these days, but it was a fairly painless solution.
