Isn't Rod Stewart making a killing off of Barry Manilow's fan base?

People News
Rod Stewart's Ronnie reunion Jul 7, 2008, 10:20 GMT Rod Stewart is planning to reform The Faces. The singer met with former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood - who now plays guitar in the Rolling Stones - at a London restaurant last week to finalise plans for a reunion tour. A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Ron and Rod had a great time reminiscing. They were having a laugh but there is still a serious hunger to get back in the studio. There are plans for the band to start recording in the autumn with a tour in the pipeline for this winter." The Faces were formed of members from two bands, the Small Faces and the Jeff Beck group, in 1969 and included Ian McLagan on keyboards, Kenney Jones on drums and Ronnie Lane - who passed away in 1997- on bass alongside Rod and Ronnie Wood. The group split in 1975 and Rod went on to enjoy an incredibly successful solo career. The full line-up reunited briefly to play at one of Rod's Wembley Stadium concerts, in London, in 1986. In 1993, the band - minus bassist Lane who was suffering from Multiple Sclerosis at the time - performed at the BRIT Awards when Rod was honoured with a lifetime achievement award. The Faces are the latest in a long line of classic rockers to reform, following The Police, Pink Floyd, Genesis and Led Zeppelin. |

Looks promising to date.
When Mac signs on, it is for real. Until that point, it's only Rod :smoking |

Did I miss the Pink Floyd reunion? Surely the author is not refering to the Live 8 show? Perhaps he was, but I'd hardly call that a reunion. A one off perhaps, but not a reunion. The same could be said of Led Zep but at least there is still talk of a tour for them. Pink Floyd? Never gonna happen. Riffy |

This was posted on Undercover mailing list last week,
Mac says the tour will happen "Ian McLagan and the Bump Band (STL July 3) * Date: Sat, 5 Jul 2008 11:52:19 -0700 (PDT) * To: undercover Undercover ========== THR Night (July 3), Doug and Rick joined me at the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill to see Ian McLagan and the Bump Band. The show was excellent. HE only did 3 shows in USA (Memphis, STL and Chicago) as they head to UK for a mini tour. Any glimmers over there check them out. He played some solo stuff, some Small Faces tunes and some Faces songs. He had lots of stories about Ronnie Laine, Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart tossed in bewteeen songs. Mac thinks that a Faces tour will happen. He said some legal issues are holding things up but all the guys are for it so time will tell. He was very kind at the meet and greet afterwards. I asked about the 78 tour and playing with the Sotnes and the payment story. He said 'it is all in my book.' I did not buy it but he did go on to tell me that he though Mick was drunk when he agreed to do tour for 50K while Mick thought the total was 15K. He admitted that Ronnie told him to hold firm but he hoenstly thinks it was cuz when they agreed Mick was drunk and had no clue. "He did not talk to me for several years after I shared that story in my book." I thanked him for clearing up the story and he finished by saying "Mich is a bit tight when it comes to money." I just had to laugh. HE shook my hand, took a pic with Rick and I and signed my ticket stub. Great guy. Despite living in Austin Texas he hates George W Bush and he thinks it is a crime Madonna is in Rock nand Roll Hall of Fame before Ronnie Laine and others. After the show I met his bass player Mark Andes (formally of Spirit, Firefall, Heart) upstairs while haivng a beer and he kindly gave me his latest CD with the band, M P Tu. If you get the chance to see Mac and his band. Do so. Rock history at its best. Todd Furesz" redlands |

It would be great to have the Faces reunited, after all this is not that kinf of reunions like Humble Pie with only Jerry Shirley or The Doors with Ray and Robbie or many others, all the band members can reunite again as Ronnie Lane quiet the band before they disbanded, and Tetsu was not a member at all, just a filler.
The question now is who's gonna be the bass player? Rick Willis (He was a Small Faces bassist) Bill Wyman (he played bass with Woody) Darryl Jones (he plays bass with Woody) Willie Weeks (he played bass with Woody) Stanley Clarke (he played bass with Woody) Fleabit Peanut Monkey (he's cooler than all of the above) Tony Levin (he's better than all of the above) Joey? |

If it happens I'd guess either Weeks or Levin. Joey could certainly hold his own in the bottom end though! |

I'd be more concerned about who's going to be the extra guitarist. This isnt 1974. I doubt Woody is up to being the lone guitarist anymore. |

Rod Stewart has already announced his own fall dates including here in Atlanta Sept 27th. Combined with the Ronnie booze stories I think we can put this Faces thing to bed for the 10,000th time....
