i have been following wimbledon as of late.
sorry england murrey got beat. i watched that whole game. the whole of england must have been watching.

i am a nadal fan and i hope he wins sunday.

anyone else out there been watching and hopes for my man?

Oh yeah, I'm watchin', all right. :) I LOVE tennis. Been following it since the late 60's.

I always loved Federer. I mean, the man is great. And a pretty nice dude too. Still like him. Not too crazy about the possibility of his winning 6 Wimbledons in a row, beating my all time fave man, Borg. Roger came up with others of seeminly similar talent {Phillippoussis, Leyton Hewitt, Marat Safin} but he quickly set the standard and just started WINNING everything in sight.

NOW.....along come fiery Raffa Nadal....{and beautiful too---just a side note ;)}, and he has flair and drive and knocks the snot out of the ball. He masters the clay at the French, and yet, can transition well and go almost immediately to grass. Won the Queen's Club. I LOVE Raffa....:) And, if he wins, he will be the first to win the French and Wimbledon back to back since the aforementioned Borg did it {of course, Borg did it over and over and over again}.

I'm hoping for a good match. And I'm hoping that Raffa has that certain extra "something" on Sunday morning. I would love to see him win his first big "W". :)

As far as the Brits go, I'm really sorry that Henman retired. I would have loved to have seen a Brit man win Wimbledon again! {Hasn't happened since Fred Perry did it in the late 30's}. Of course, Ginny Wade won it in '77.....

Y VIVA ESPAGNA !!!!!!

What a little fighter, and such a nice kid!!! I think the Brits were flipping at him walking all about the place and entering the Royal box to receive congratulations from the Spanish Prince and his wife, very funny... I watched him win the big Spanish finale in Madrid two years ago, he was playing against a German, and a member of the public got up when Rafa scored a point and screamed in Spanish: "German, consider yourself fucked!" which made the public laugh out loud....Anyway, what a relief, I was already developing a stomach ulcer from watching...

McEnroe was right...that was the best match I've EVER seen...and he's seen a lot more than I have! INCREDIBLE. Rafa just NEVER gives up---that's one thing I love about him. I was seriously getting physically sick, in that 4th set {when he didn't convert on 2 match points}. But he DID IT! He cried, I jumped up and started crying and going "Yes! Yes! I can't BELIEVE it!"

Whew. I swore I would NEVER sweat out a match like that again. I did it for EVERY match Borg played---and it almost killed me in the 70's/early 80's. lol I DID sweat out Steffi Graf a few times... ::), but no man, since Borg. Until now. Rafa. My favorite since I first saw him play... :)

Roger didn't give this match up, Rafa wrested it from him.

Congrats, Rafa! You have much to be proud of! ;D
