WAIT....SORRY FALSE ALARM.

My brother tells me that wasn't a rap song at all but a heavy metal song by a group called "Disturtbed."????

Understandable.

Those genres are often confused with one another.

Public Enemy
Cypress Hill
N.W.A.
Beastie Boys
Run D.M.C.

I saw Talib Kweli last year and that was alright, as was the show a few months ago with Big Daddy Kayne, Slick Rick & Doug E Fresh and a few others.

Smokin' Grooves '98 was awesome, saw that tour 3 times

I enjoyed Snoop Dog's stuff, in the nineties. And Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. And some other stuff. I don't care about that rap section in "Anybody Seen My Baby", though. Anyhow, I don't see myself buying any rap album these days.

Title: Re: RAP

I like some rap. Snoop, A tribe called Quest, Common, Run DMC, Public Enemy, Eminem, etc..

The problem is that now it's just overmarketed, unoriginal, meaningless, repetitive bullshit, just like Disco and hair metal.  You have cool cars with big rims and a bunch of hoes around you. I get it...now shut up!

Title: Re: RAP
Post by Holden on Jul 4th, 2008 at 5:40pm
And another thing I hate about mainstream rap is that they always glorify living on the streets and dealing drugs. They have so much power and money to really change and improve things in the African American communities but instead they get middle class kids to think how cool the ghetto is.

OK..LOL...Did you try and re-register under the old user name? Maybe that works, but of course if you want to use the new one instead...fair enough

Well I, for one, am relieved! I came here earlier and thought TTM had done something TERRIBLE and had been dragged off to the dungeon and put in stocks or something.  :o

Ha, yeah, that was a pretty impressive 4th of July feat---TTM's name in lights, all over the board! ;D

W-w-w-what!??!

Let me explain. One quality post equals 10 quanity posts. For the real quality posts you have to look for those posters with an understanding of Rock n Roll. That's the stuff I like to read. But there are slow days so people and not just me, post "pablum"....it helps keep things rolling along. Which in my opinion is a good thing, to a point.

This album steamrolled skepticism of rap as genre, practially essential.
