Title: Thank you for the Brian header.... Post by Sioux on Jul 2nd, 2008 at 10:02am
......on this saddest of days for Brian fans. :( It's hard to believe it's been 39 years. I hate this day. Every year. I just hate it. I'm watching Wimbledon, just as Brian did for part of his last day on earth. Thanks for letting us quietly mourn his death, and joyfully celebrate his life here on RO.

You don't need to thank; this is a day to celebrate too, to celebrate Brian's life, thanks to him we have a band, so we have this place
BTW; for those who don't know Brian Passed on the 2nd of July around midnight but his death is commemorated on 3rd July, same as Jim Morrison, he passed on July the second but his death is commemorated on July the 3rd... Both on the water! Both under unknown circumstances... Jim wrote a poem for Brian and followed him in the same way two years later… :necrophillicpost :necrophillicpost :necrophillicpost |

love your post and the pic Voodoo!! I think though that the pic is one of the ones taken by Helen Spittal when she visited him at Cotchford in June of '69 now is there any possibility that we could get anudder Brian emoticon ... I vote for this pic ... just a suggestion :) thanx again to you and all who help keep this board the way it is!! |

It was a very sad day for me back in '69 on this date when I read in newspaper that Brian died, I was upset by the fact he left the band, & then this, it was such a long time ago, but I remember it so well.

Always found it a bit strange that Brian's death is commemorated on the 3rd as any reports of what did happen on that fateful night seem to have him being pulled out of the pool before midnight on the 2nd. Whilst there's still just as much if not more confusion as to how (and where) Jim Morrison curled up his toes, its pretty much accepted that it happened in the early hours of the 3rd, whether it was in his bath or in the toilets of that Paris nightclub. |

Heck, even where the death certificate says 'date of death' it says '2 July, '69'. Only God knows why they've put down the 3rd, but that is prolly one of the reasons for all the confusion, or speculation of his death ... I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. |

When I talk or write about Brian's death, I usually use 2/3 July....I agree. I think he died on the 2nd. But I think certain things transpired that made people want to think it happened later....when maybe only 4 people were there?
Questions and controversy followed Brian when he was alive, and when he died.....and for all these years afterwards. But how amazing that he lived...and started this great band...and that we all shared the same time frame in the LONG history of the world. Whatever anyone says about Brian, he loved that band. :) |

The shirt sucks. And Brian usually had pretty good fashion sense. Myybe he wasn't expecting any photographers to stop by.

That picture was taken by his friend, Helen Spittal. He was comfortable enough with her to let her photograph him "as is". I'm glad she did. There weren't any other pix of Brian after this set of pix. :(
