Title: good 4th of july people
Post by fireontheplatter on Jul 1st, 2008 at 5:41pm
what are your plans for the eve?

i will do the usual and ride my bike out to the fairgrounds with, yes, a 40.
there are 3-5 bands that play for a few hours before the fireworks.  the 'works' last for about 30-40 minutes.

happy 4th July to all my U.S friends  :)

4th Of July  -  Aimee Mann

Todays the fourth of july
Another june has gone by
And when they light up our town I just think
What a waste of gunpowder and sky
Im certain that I am alone
In harbouring thoughts of our home
Its one of my faults that I cant quell my past
I ought to have gotten it gone

Oh, baby, I wonder -
If when you are older -
Someday-
Youll wake up
And say, my god, I should have told her -
What would it take?
But now here I am and the worlds gotten colder
And shes got the river down which I sold her.

So thats todays memory lane
With all the pathos and pain
Another chapter in a book where the chapters are endless
And theyre always the same
A verse, then a verse, and refrain

Oh, baby, I wonder -
If when you are older -
Someday-
Youll wake up
And say, my god, I should have told her -
What would it take?
But now here I am and the worlds gotten colder
And shes got the river down which I sold her.

I will be partying and celebrating the nation's birthday in style. I'm hosting a big fourth of July bash with reggae star Eek-A-Mouse too. So you know,......good chance that Riffy will be smoking a spliffy at some point.

I will also drink a few beers in honor of guys like this. You know the guys that TTM insists are terrorizing the people of Iraq. Here we see an American oppressor using the "stand on my boot till it hurts the bottom of your feet" interogation technique in Sader City last week. Poor kid.

That's cool. I'm throwing a family bash at my new digs July 6. I will be surrounded by Republicans. Maybe by the US Army if my brother shows up. His wife is more gung ho than he is....if that's possible. But she's Italian .... and I hope she shows up with some goodies because she's a great cook.

Do yinzselves a favor, and do not, I repeat do not search for any firecracker images on the internets.  I was gonna put a little somethin' together, but its off now.  I'm fucked up for life now.  We're talking pics of the aftermath of the dude who drank 20 Pabst Blue Ribbon pounders at the barbeque (not that there is anything wrong with that part), and then decided to light a M80 between his teeth...and it gets worse.

Buffalo seemed like a great road trip
at the time.  The Stones had no plans
to play in New England, so, a friend of
mine & myself jumped into the Fairlane
for a 8 hour road trip.  Got in two days
before, went to see Viagra Falls, then
off to Toronto, visiting, as well as had
a couple of beers at the El Mocambo.
Back to Amherst for the night before
the show, Keith style, lamps covered
with scarfs, playing acoustic guitars..
Just one of those memorable trips...

I will toast to you tomorrow LJ.
While we did not know each other
then, who knew we would meet up
here all these years later....

He passed though here last August and the reviews of those shows had me kicking myself for being out of town. I was able to snag some decent seats about 20 rows back. This time around the setlist had more of his 80's catalog than I cared to hear! The material played from from the 60's and 70's had the entire place up on its' feet and dancing. He chatters a lot between songs which breaks up the flow of the show a little bit. If you are on the fence about going, I'd say definitely get a ticket and use the 80's material for beer/ pee breaks.

I'm celebrating seeing Stevie Wonder this weekend!

let us have review please . he's headed here later this year for the first time in over a decade

i have never seen him and if i did would be hoping for a funkfest of large proportions  but would fear an AOR snoozefest

I wish I could say the same.  Today was day 3 of me "getting in shape".  I did not hit the gym but I biked 75 miles.  I never had a hangover that hurt this bad.
