Title: Woodie Hit Rehab For Leah's Wedding
Post by GotToRollMe on Jun 29th, 2008 at 10:30pm
ROLLING STONES - WOOD ENTERS REHAB

ROLLING STONES star RONNIE WOOD checked himself into rehab - after taking part in a wine-tasting session.
The rocker, 61, has battled alcoholism in the past and feared he would miss his daughter Leah's wedding if he did not seek treatment after drinking the wine.
Wood checked himself into London's Priory Clinic just to ensure his addiction was under control.
A spokesman for the star says, "The fact he checked himself in because it was Leah's wedding shows, I think, that he is very capable of controlling it."
Wood's daughter Leah wed boyfriend Jack MacDonald on 21 June (08).

Good for Woodie.  The drugs and booze part of the Stones is not something I admire.

Sounds like Ronnie was right on top of it this time. That's good. I'm glad he went in so quickly. He sure looked good at the wedding!

Why?  What is wrong with alcohol?

Good for Woodie...I wonder if he could handle a Faces reunion and his demons at the same time..Although if he can hang with Keith I suppose he could..

depends if you're an alcoholic or not. If you're not, nothing wrong, if you are, and you drink... Well, you end up in a 60 year old in a rehab for the 50th time in ten years. I don't care who you are, that is not glamorous.

I was inquiring about this: "The drugs and booze part of the Stones is not something I admire." which I didn't understand in the context it was said - it seemed an odd comment, and also seemed to have more to it.

the fact that he's had to do it several times in the last six years would suggest that the spokesman is talking absolute shite.

Rehab's for quitters. I hope when he gets through this "responsible parenting" phase he will get back to normal and we can all just get on with things. If nothing else he and Keith's recording studio drunk-fests provide some entertaining bootleg material.

Ronnie been battling alcoholism for years, which is why I don't understand why he would take part in a wine tasting session, was this done in public? most alcoholics who go back drinking usually hide their drinking from others, not do it in public when everybody knows one is an alcoholic.

If it was a private wine bash - i.e., up front "corking" charge, European spitoon rules, liquid vetting, the whole nine yards - we wouldn't know about it, now would we?  Ronald chose to swill flagrante delicto, and now he is paying the heavy, heavy toll on Rocks Banging Off.

Why punish those that drink responsibly? I agree its a major substance problem but its folks older than 21 abusing habitually and young folks driving and make all the laws you want but we got booze and so can kids today.More school based education on the dangers which they do some now is a good thing I think.

Why? It wouldn't change anything. It's not like 16 year olds can't get a hold of alcohol when they want it. It comes down to the responsibility of the individual, not the law.

Alcohol abuse is pretty sad though. I had one classmate (19 years old) who drank and drove without a seatbelt on, smashed into oncoming traffic and was thrown out of his car and died. And another one (18 years old) who tried to cross the street drunk and got hit by 2 cars. He died on impact. It's depressing, especially since people never learn from other mistakes.

Yeah, They learn from Hollywoood babylon, about Roscue :"fatty' Arbuckle, I heard Kenneth Anger's about to release his new book , up to date, about James Dean being a Bi-Sexual (How schock!!!) that is !! you mean he was a actually bi-sexual, & not to talk about Elizabeth Taylor, being the Queen for all queers except Judy Garyland, who stood for all homosexuals, because she didn't have a carerr to depend on, she just went on entertaining Queers for the rest of her life, & She'se made a very good business at that, so you ask me , what's new & entertaining??????????

i'll just say this about that.  it's tough when you're young...peer pressure from the peeps you are hanging out with wanting to go to another bar and you got to drive to get there....stuff like that.
i had a very scary incident back in the late 80's.  i had way to many beers and my friend was like let go here and i was like alright.  big mistake.  i was hammered and it was in the middle of the winter and it was snowing and the roads were wet.  i don't remember a whole lot of it really, but let me just say, i am lucky to be here.  my brand new toyota pickup was totaled  it wasn't the last time i drove drunk.  it took 3 dui's to scare me straight.  i don't do it anymore out of respect for others.

i can totally see why shit like this happens tho.  it sucks.

Yeah Pdog filled in what I meant to say.  I have a drink or two, but when it rules your life or degrades your health then it's no good.

He had to book himself into rehab after a "wine tasting session"???

I pressume it was a one-off. He must really still have a problem then!  :P
