Maybe she "jumped". Its hard for young women to be alone in strange cultures without families.

But, diving off apts in Manhattan is no way to go.

A summer in Manhattan can be pretty bad too... I have a feeling cocaine and a bad relationship are more the reason than anything else.

I'm gonaa use opinion, but suicide is the most selfish act a person can demonstrate... There may be socio or climatic reasons in certain areas. I've heard dentists do it more, and Seattle supposedly is a high rate of suicide... but regardless, it's a selfish person who kills themselves, unless they have a very severe untreated mental illness.
Suicide is a long term fix, to short term problems.

If anyone feels suicidal, seek help, and I don't mean by posting it..LOL! Call 911 and GET HELP!!! Seriously!

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Despondency, lack of clarity and severe depression/hopelessness are also main contributors.

My cousin did it age 22. Ironically, my aunt and uncle were both therapists. They were never the same after.

Thanks, FG. It was more than 20 years ago. Yes, there were many signs. She dropped out of college, then got well enough through therapy to go back. A few weeks later, after a party, she took a bunch of pills.

Zack, thank you for sharing your personal story of loss. It is especially tragic when a young person commits suicide. Because it is a life never lived and a potential never fulfilled.

Brother please! Manhattan in the summer is an easy place to live, hang out, enjoy. This young lady probably had problems long before NYC.

Ouch! Sorry for your loss. I once worried about suicide with someone quite close to me but she seems much happier these days.

Btw, I think she was in a Garnier shampoo commercial with her long beatiful hair.
