I'm glad your poll recognizes drinking, starbolf.  I don't think the public at large understands the hours of practice, dedication, and sacrifice it takes to drink at the professional level.  Plus it's the only sport that whitey can compete in head to head with blacks.

Well whoever said the real football/football/futbol was exciting wasn't talking about this Spain/Italy game. I think I found a cure for insomnia. Watch a tape of this game and you'll fall asleep for sure. :interestingstuffronnie

Ahhhh, curling....one of my faves... ;)

Ok, I'm going to stick my neck out here.

I love tennis. And I've met a lot of great players over the years.

And I love wussy, American football. College and pro. {Big 12, Pac 10, Packers!!}

I would love Rugby, I'm sure, and probably cricket too, if only America recognized them as sports.  ::)

What? No Nascar?? I swear, Nascar has taken over everything. And basketball. And I do not like basketball. And there is a LOT of golf on TV. Professional mens' golf. Professional women's golf. Amateur golf. Celebrity golf. ANYBODY playing golf.... ::) >:(

To be truthful, I can pretty much get into any sport, if I sit down and watch it. I love X-treme sports too. The Dew tour....skateboarding, FMX bikes, BMX bikes.....got into watching hockey this year. Oh, and horse racing. And equestrian events. And the Olympics----track & field, gymnastics, diving....

Yeah, sports are pretty cool. ;) :)

I'd like to see Starchild out on the pitch. I bet after 10 minutes he'd be gasping for air and still trying to figure out why the ball keeps hitting him on the face.

The squeaking of their shoes against the court drives me up the wall as if being subjected to 48 minutes of Yoko Ono's singing.

Lol. Actually, my reasons are much more elusive...and non-sensical. Back in the early 70's, I met an actress that I admired very much. And she was talking to me about her new made-for-TV movie coming up. I was very anxious to see it, especially since I'd had the chance to talk to her about it! So, the night of the show............ACK! The show was pre-empted for ACC basketball! I'd waited for MONTHS for this movie to come on! I was incensed.

So, maybe it's just ACC basketball that I hate??? >:(

I agree 100% with you Voodoo!

Let's start a move and we the rest of the world don't call "American football" football anymore!
That isn't foot-ball!

"Run for the goal ball"?

I call the real football football and the american game I just call the NFL. I love playing out on the pitch and I love playing the american pigskin version. As far as watching goes, The NFL is so fucking boring anymore. games take forever, timeouts galore, it's ironic that Americans snooze at Football, when most have never probably really playing it, at least played it properly.
the MLS in the USa is trying, but the caliber of plsyers is low. Premiere League rocks, as does  Europe Cup and World Cup.

a tounge in cheek response to angie's dig at football in egon's "fuck" thread.

i went to grad school in britain and tried to convert some of my european friends to football and baseball. baseball was too complex for them...they couldn't see the genious in it....and they laughed at all the padding on the football players. they couldn't grasp the concept that you needed the padding when a 6'3'' 240 lb free safety is barrelling at you at full spead, throwing his entire massive body at you like a javelin in the hopes of knocking you unconsious so he can grab the loose ball and run for six.

If you want a sport with some tough guys. How about Drag racing. Scott Kalitta,an NHRA Funny Car driver whose family has long been associated with the sport was killed over the weekend at a race in New Jersey when his engine blew up halfway down the run and his chute didn't come out and he crashed into a retaining wall at 300 MPH. Not a pretty site and about the 3rd driver to die in the last 4 years or so.

Dunno about tough, but it definitely takes some onions to have 8000 nitromethane guzzling horses at your feet. Them folks are a whole 'nother breed.

Been a big fan my whole life, and E-town is my local track.
Can hear the nitro cars from my house - which is several miles away...

Didn't hear anything late Saturday afternoon, and then I found out why on ESPN.  :(

RIP Scott.

I play friend who works for an NHRA team.  I went to an event to check out the scene.  After the event, we all went to a bar.  John Force showed up.  For being the biggest name in his sport, you would never know it.  The guy was priceless.  He had a great sense of humor and was very down to Earth.

I hosted an event at Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey (where the driver died the other day) and John Force was at the event. I had the chance to meet him and talk with him for a bit. You're right, the guy is so down to earth. He asked me if we played Elvis at my radio station. I told him that we didn't and he looked hurt! LOL! I quickly gained his trust when I told him that I thought Heartbreak Hotel was one of the greatest rock and roll songs ever written, and that Elvis' performance of it was priceless. He just slapped me on the back and talked about Elvis for the the next twenty minutes. Even when I tried to steer the conversation back to funny cars all he wanted to talk about was Elvis. Very funny and gregarious guy. On another note, at this same event I got to ride in Gravedigger! Very cool, but as I couldn't be strapped in to a five point restraint there was no way that I could crush any cars. Would have loved to have had the chance though!

LOL!  When I met Force in the bar, he had the DJ play about 10 Elvis songs.  He asked me if I liked Elvis, of course I told him yes.  I asked him if he liked the Stones, because they are the greatest ever....he said yeah, they are pretty good.

Australian Rules Football rules! Though i have to admit, i am losing interest. Doesnt mean as much to me as it used to. My team not doing as well as expected doesnt faze me. I just have other interests now. I still like to watch footy though, as it's not as boring as so-called other "football" games.
