A tie; "Cut The Crap" by the Mick Jones-less 'Clash' and "David Live" by the coked-to-the-gills/plastic soulman David Bowie.

None with me either, I used to have a lot of records & got them replaced with C.D.'s, when C.D.'s first came out they were very expensive, & there's no way I'd pay for a C.D. I was unsure of, I haven't bought a C.D. since the late 90's because I can download a song in one minute, sometimes even faster.

I actually saw him in concert back in 1999 or so...a Christmas present for my daughter, her first show (not counting the Dead at RFK back in 1993 when she was 9 months old). It was exactly as bad as you'd imagine

Bob Dylan, Under the Red Sky. At least there are a couple of good songs on Knocked Out Loaded and Down in the Groove. Red Sky has only one good song ("Born in Time") played badly and with an immature version of the lyrics - it wouldn't jell into its best form until the winter 1997 tour leg.
One of the few times BD followed a great record with a stinker. Usually there's two goodies back-to-back in each decade following the 1960s. I'd blame Don Was if BD wasn't so just-fell-out-of-bed cavalier about making albums. |

I'm afraid it might be Two Sides of the Moon by the Who's esteemed drummer.

Yes I agree to that....partly, as I do like the song Under The Red Sky as well. Rest of the album is...not much to speak about - and the production is poor. The 1989 Oh Mercy outtake version of Born In Time is also great BTW...almost as good as the 97/98 live versions |

Ohhhhh my..... :( I really can't think of anything that is truly bad or embarrassing. I pick and choose carefully. Interesting, the difference between buying a CD {and the idea of concept albums from the "old days"} and simply downloading a song nowadays. I am an entire album person myself. With all the downloading of single songs now, artists are not pushed to put out a project with 8-10 quality songs. That's really a shame. Can you imagine having an album like Exile, or Who's Next, or After the Goldrush, and only finding a song or two that you would want to own??? |

I sold all the crap I had, however I dare to say that currently my worst CD is Adam Bomb "New York Times" I bought it because it has Mick Taylor and Nicky Hopkins in it but that was the best example to shows that good guests don't mean good album.
My worst LP could be Charlie Watts' Long Ago & Far Away :Youmakeagrownmancrylikejoey :wtf3 |

Boz Scaggs "Down 2 then left" - vinyl.
"Night" by Night - bought the LP for 1 song and never played the fucka again! "In through the out door" - bad, bad, bad As for cd's - not sure. I dont really buy them anymore. Probably have to say Jagger's 3 rd solo record (whatever the fuck it was called - i cant remember!). I nearly cried when i finished (endured!) listening to it. Cried that i wasted $20.00 on that piece of crap. |

Worst one was "the ambient collection" by art of noise. but that wasn't really a cd, just a bunch of mp3s. and i deleted them.
I kinda like under the red sky. as a matter of fact the title track was stuck in my head last week. worst dylan may be knocked out loaded, but i like most of the tracks ("my god they killed him" is awful, though). |

'This is England' is worth the price of the CD alone. If theyd made that record a year earlier (when they were touring with some of the songs) it could have been a decent record. I saw them live around then and while there was obviously something missing with Jones having left, the new songs were really good. They made an absolute balls of the album in the studio |

Under The Red Sky is half very good, half filler. Saved (good songs when played live, rotten album), Knocked Out Loaded (save for the magnificent Brownsville Girl) and Down In The Groove (two turds in a row!) are the only three Dylan studio albums that I'd consider to be poor. Not a bad ratio out of, what, 31 albums. I dont count the "Dylan" album that came out in 1973 as its a release he didnt approve of. |

I used to own "Picture Book" by Simply Red. It was a gift given by a friend shortly after I got my first CD player. It's the thought that counts. It was (and is) fucking awful and is long gone. I also had "Clutching At Straws" by Marillion. I had a kind of a thing for Marillion and I still have "Script For A Jester's Tear" and "Fugazi", but '..Straws' was very poor....

Title: Re: Worst CD In Your Collection Post by Zack on Jun 24th, 2008 at 10:14am
There has been endless debate on this very board about whether Bridges is a great album or a piece of crap, with passionate arguments on both sides. Whatever -- it sold a couple of million, spawned radio singles, and anchored two major world tours by the Stones. I for one listened to it constantly in the summer of 1997.
In a word, every new release is a major album, comparatively speaking. It's the fucking Rolling Stones, man! |
