It's a gas, gas, gas to watch items such as this end on ebay.
My only concern would be that the seller does not have a performance

He's never sold anything on ebay before - at least not while using that ebay-account.

This is true - I would have happily taken a percentage and sold it for him.  Zeros are SCARY for bidders.  That said, nine grand for 7 round inches of plastic and a slick thin piece of paper is not chump change.  But did you read the q/a with the guy?  Q: "Why not offer insurance on this valuable record?" A:  "I did not realize it was a valuable record".

Well it ended at $9,001.00 USD!!!!  :wow

Funny but true.  A friend of mine was at a record con in Allentown recently and said that most of the heavy dealers did not even bring their most valuable records (records in this price range or higher, mainly garage/soul 45s with tiny pressings) to the show because of the weakness of the dollar.  Like paintings, some records are worth keeping your money in.  They're not getting any less rare.

Mono: $150-$200
Stereo: $40-$60

The item was a fake copy; rik1 from Banquete de Pordioseros did bid for this item and he received a note from eBay warning him not to accept a second chance offer or any kind of negotiation with that seller as the copy sold was fake.

The item was removed from eBay; as you may know when an auction is closed it is on line for (I Think) 90 additional days but in this case it was removed

I'm going to compare the versions I have saved from previous auctions with this one; not sure if I saved it as I'm in the office but I have the images from the 2002 auction won by Pete Townshend (we was the winner but the reserve price was not reached) and some others like this posted by Nasty Habits

I feel for the buyer, while I would think/hope things
happened quick enough to save his dinero.   Again,
it was ironic that the buyer for this was the one whom I worked
with for a Beast of Burden 45 my buddy had aquired.
He was a good chap to work with....
I hope he sniffed out the loser.

I wrote something at the time about hoping this wasn't a fake auction, but deleted it because I didn't want to be presumptuous towards a fellow ebay seller like that.  But, damn, man I knew something was rotten when he was using already on line pictures to illustrate the auction.

Selling on ebay is hard enough without assholes like that scamming buyers and screwing up the system.

Vinyl rules, and not only that, they sound great and their value increases. Most of my acquisitions on eBay are vinyl. I also buy vinyl version of recent releases when they come out also in vinyl, for example I just bought the Led Zeppelin live Show @ O2 last year and it rocks

It is also heavy as shit and can rapidly take over your entire house!

Yes, I do. I also have picture sleeves for Harlem Shuffle, SMU & (such as it is) Hang Fire. I'd never sell any of this unless I developed a 'nasty habit'! They are part of my youth.

Seen way to many people sell way too many records in support of their "nasty habits".  Stay clean and keep the vinyl!  It lasts longer and rocks harder!  

I do have a record player again but I haven't played anything on it yet. The iPod is so much easier.

if I get hard up for cash i'm going to sell a fake record, just none of you guys buy it, K?

I hear that!  The Ipod is the greatest invention in the history of mankind!

But I did recently came across one of them there Whip/Beast 7"s (even w/o PS it doesn't show up every day) and it sounds absolutely wonderful at 45 RPM, particularly Whip.
