Title: Re: celtics vs lakers Post by Nellcote on Jun 6th, 2008 at 6:25am
So there it is, Game 1 in da books.
Want more drama than that, look elsewhere. Where was Kobe? Where was Jack Nicholson? Rondo-huge KG was KG, I think he will be tough to watch for this series. There was nothing fake about Paul Pierce's injury, despite the national pundits wanting to make a larger story out of this. He's just putting his place with the rest of the Celtic greats. It's only one win, Kobe should find the arena at some point, so... Bring on Sunday! |
|
Title: Re: celtics vs lakers Post by sirmoonie on Jun 6th, 2008 at 9:48am
Rondo rhymes with hondo AND mondo.
Vujacic has one of the nicest shots I've ever seen. Can Pierce and Garnett carry this all the way? They don't get much help from anyone. Ray Allen is a fade. Jackson will make the changes necessary, of course. But a big win for Celtics and America. The Lakers are not American, and neither is L.A, which hates us for our freedoms. |
|
Title: Re: celtics vs lakers Post by luxury on Jun 6th, 2008 at 10:19am
what's a "fade?"
I wonder what kind of gum Ray Allen chews. I need some of that. |

Well, Allen is kinda old (er). I am hearing he is suffering from some "personal issues", also.
So many of them look like they belong in the freak show tent. I think that is why I love watching. |

Title: Re: celtics vs lakers Post by lotsajizz on Jun 6th, 2008 at 11:34am
This lame sports story which has no place occupying newspaper space in June was a distinct second in sports coverage in the Boston area. The REAL action was a little west of the basketball game.

Title: Re: celtics vs lakers Post by Nellcote on Jun 6th, 2008 at 12:11pm
Jizzy, too much vapor. You have to be ozoned not to get the Celts high.
Action @ Fenway, please spare me. The action at Fenway surrounded Loco Coco Crisp charging the mound because he got a wake up hit on the ass, for the stupid stuff he's been doing for the past two days. A surrounding scrum occured from this. When Man Ram was confronted about this in the dugout, he chose to give Youk a backhandah. Not the smartest move. So, now, with Loco Coco probably being suspended, the phenom Ellsbury injured, Tizzy on dl, we have a AAA outfield, save for JD Blew. Dump Coco, send him on the Hillary Clinton bus to cookieville. |

Title: Re: celtics vs lakers Post by lotsajizz on Jun 6th, 2008 at 6:29pm
When the Celtics were winning 8 in a row and the Bruins were in last, the Bruins still outdrew them. Boston was not much of a basketball town in terms of attendance until Larry Legend. And if the Bruins could ever get off the schneid, they would again outdraw that street-ball/traveling on every play bogus basketball they play nowadays.
btw, Coco's the MAN! best defensive CF in MLB and a mean MF that will come in handy It is incredible that some give credence to that bigoted jerk Gerry Calahan |

Title: Re: celtics vs lakers Post by sweetcharmedlife on Jun 6th, 2008 at 7:35pm
Well it says a lot about Loco Crisp that he got a 7 game suspension and Shields only got 6,even though he basicly admitted that he threw at Crisp intentionally.

Title: Re: celtics vs lakers Post by Nellcote on Jun 6th, 2008 at 7:52pm
Shows how out of touch Bob Watson, the purveyor of the penalties in the AL is.
Johnny Gomes only got 5 games, yet the video clearly shows him pummeling Coco Gomes said he was "protecting" Shields, yet Shields was not even in the scrum when Gomes was hammering away.... |

Ray Waddell of Billboard.com reports: Though not without setbacks, the VAN HALEN reunion tour ended up a massive success, wrapping June 2 in Grand Rapids, Mich., with a total gross of more than $93 million and close to one million in attendance from 74 shows.
The tour featured founding members David Lee Roth, and Eddie and Alex Van Halen, along with Eddie's son Wolfgang Van Halen. The shows marked the first time Roth had performed with the band in more than 23 years. VAN HALEN's handlers say it was the top-grossing tour in the band's history. Roth when reached for comment simply stated bow zee bow zee bop. |

Title: Re: celtics vs lakers Post by sirmoonie on Jun 11th, 2008 at 9:45am
The Celts played terribly and still made a game of it. Some really poor playing, almost Bush league. The Fetus/Piranha was on the bench the whole night too, so there is no excuse.
Lakers are looking shallow - its Koab, then some outside shooting by Vujacic, Fischer, and Radman, but that is it. |

Celts missed Perkins in the middle last night, forcing Garnett to do more. Pierce MVP right now. Gahden should be rockin this week. Here's hoping Ray Allen plays, as he had to bolt post game to attend to an ailing daughter. Does Kobe have some compromising photos of David Stern, as the NBA as they voted him "father of the year"? |

Celts had that one, just some sloppy play on their part. Lakers are weapon less when Koab is shut down.
Celtics are clealry the better team, which is surprising. Be really surprised if they don't walk all over the Lakers in Game 6. Early lead and never let up. Pierce is a basketball maniac! Posey playing like a killer too. |

I agree moonie. For the love of god, you are brilliant. Kobey's line? 7-22, 3-9 from 3pt, 3 reebs, 4 ass, 4 turnovers, 1 steal, and 1 hack. That's his line in the most important game of his career to date. Jordanesque my foot. Its preposterous to even think Jordan would allow something like tonight to happen to his team. |

The kingdom, the power, the glory, the poise, and the moxie. All belong to the Celtics. God was looking down from above and he saw stuff and it pleased god, hence the Celtic's crush the Lakers and humiliate them in a bash for the heavens.

Wow what a kick in the Laker's collective balls eh!?
Congrats to the Celtics. That was an incredible display of basketball - pure team effort. The defense was suffocating - all those steals, blocked shots and amazing offensive rebounds. Did the Lakers even get a rebound? And the offensive passing of the Celtics so confused the Lakers, they'll need the entire offseason to figure out what happened to them! :aimama |

Title: Re: celtics vs lakers Post by Nellcote on Jun 18th, 2008 at 7:24am
Celts came back from a 24 point drubbing in Game 4 to win
Celts went on to hand Lakers a 39 point massacre in Game 6. Zen Master Jackson will have to ponder this bookend humiliation for sometime Again, all the National pundits have not a clue towards a Boston team. The tide turned last night when Odom gave Ray Allen a "Moe Howard" finger poke, uncontested. That was it. There was no going back. Game-Set-Match. Bring on Mayor Menino and his "Jumbletrons" as he likes to call them during the rolling rally..... |

That was just a very different team last night. They were not to be denied. |

Good read, but this 2007-08 team doesn't compare to the 80s Celtics teams, who battled against Magic's incredible Lakers teams every goddam year, and hung with them all the way. What a franchise though - along with the Steelers, the Celtics set the gold standard in Poise and Moxie. |

No, but it does mean the quality of play is degraded significantly, as there is a greater critical mass of athsmatic fat white guys filling in the void. If Negro numbers slide at the same logarithmic pace, they'll be batting with curved sticks by 2015. |

No. You are ignoring that it is only the American negro that has fallen away from baseball. It is more than compensated for by the influx of Latin negroes. Not to mention the influx of Asian baseball players. Baseball is healthy and growing and has never been more diverse. |
