WASHINGTON - Hillary Rodham Clinton told colleagues Tuesday she would be consider joining Barack Obama as his running mate, and advisers said she was withholding a formal departure from the race partly to use her remaining leverage to press for a spot on the ticket.


On a conference call with other New York lawmakers, Clinton, a New York senator, said she was willing to become Obama's vice presidential nominee if it would help Democrats win the White House, according to a participant who spoke on condition of anonymity because this person was not authorized to speak for Clinton.

Clinton's remarks came in response to a question from Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez, who said she believed the best way for Obama to win key voting blocs, including Hispanics, would be for him to choose Clinton as his running mate.

"I am open to it," Clinton replied, if it would help the party's prospects in November.

"Because Americans are usually more positive about their personal situations than the situation 'out there' more broadly, the record-high negative reading when the public is asked about its own financial situations suggests that the current economic downturn is having a significant personal impact," Gallup said.

While polls at this point aren't the be-all & end-all, they can affect campaign donations. Some would be less likely to give if they think McCain's dead meat.

As I stated in a previous post Bush has let the conservatives down. His spending has been one the main reasons that the Republicans are going to take such a big hit this year. However, the proposals that the Marxist has in mind are going to make Bush's spending look like child's play. He has big big plans alright, and we are all going to take it in the throat should he get elected. But I have more faith in the American voting electorate when the truth about Obama is finally aired. The sole reason that Bush won in 2004 was because Kerry was such an insanely flawed and weak candidate. Kerry looks like the second coming of JFK compared to Obama though! Not to mention that most people are reluctant to remove a sitting president during wartime. Now that things in Iraq are looking so good it is going to be a hard sell to tell the American electorate that we are loosing the war. We're not. Well she did not concede. Obama just has too much backing, both from the press and from Democratic party officials. It really killed Hillary early on.

Although she certainly made mistakes. Sniper fire, RFK statement....way too big of mistakes for a press so much against her and hell bent on Obama. Just plain stupid mistakes. I will give her one big one, .....but not two. Especially one so late and at such a crucial time.

I give Obama his "just do". He really built a well put together, strong and technologically innovative campaign. This signified a new beginning in the funding of political candidates... via the internet. Kinda neat. This, impressed me the most out of both campaigns. It is really a "no-brainer" and we knew this aspect would certainly come into play soon but Obama's large on-line donation pot that he amassed this campaign really showed that the world is ready to do their part online right here, and right now and it can be very, very successful.  

Still I think Hillary would of had a better shot against Mcain versus Obama vs, MCain based on the polls and the states she was strong in versus the states Obama took runner up in the race.

Yes. I have to say it, be it as truly wrong as it is ...she is white (sadly this is a factor). That alone is the major factor why I think she would have the better shot. I realize this is definitely not how the world should be ....but the reality is still there. Even though it is wrong.

I think she would of beat Mcain. I am still undecided if Obama can pull it off. If there is more to come of his controversial dealings with controversial people his chances will lesson considerably.
