Title: Running out of Luck:VHS Stained Carpet Premiere.
Post by MoleDmc on Jun 2nd, 2008 at 6:40pm
Got some good friends and some good powder and some very cheap cider and a copy of the 1987 stones-splitting wank project that is Running out of Luck off ebay for a few pounds. I could not resist it any longer. If you thought the Altamont documentary gave you the chills then you best not watch this.
Highlights are without a doubt Rae Dawn Chong and her amazing nipples, Mick in drag, and Mick licking her face to the strains of 'Hard Woman'. I'd like to give you a proper review but I cannot give anything away. I can just see Keith putting his foot through the TV....

The best £5 I have ever spent.

P.S. I quite liked '1/2 a loaf'. Though it sounds like a Prince song.

I'll be putting this up on BitTorrent in the next few weeks.

Sorry.

Here are the front row highlights- don't worry, no spoilers! :perverted

You missed the best bit which is Mick trying to prove he is someone famous by going into a record shop in the arsehole of nowhere, pulling out a copy of 'Through the Past Darkly', pointing to his pic on the cover, putting it on the turntable and dancing around like a lunatic to 'Brown sugar'  ...

..something which was in itself quite an accomplishment as the Stones didnt even record the song until several months after that album was released....

Dreadful doesn't begin to describe that monstrosity. And I actually LIKED She's The Boss when it came out. Now, not so much.

No, no no.  It was the sight of Mick in dirty, clingy long white underwear--the prison scene springs to mind...

haha Good call Gazza! I never even thought of that...Brown Sugar isn't even on Through the Past Darkly!!
That video is hilarious. I bought it off of ebay a while back too. My boyfriend even watched it with me once just because it was such a spectacle.
:funny

It's even worse, Brown Sugar's version on the movie is from Love You Live, released 8 years after TTPD.

I totally loved that little movie. I thought it was brilliant. Funny without being too corny. I think it was Nicholas Ball who played the Jerry Hall's driver. He was very good. Wish it was on dvd. Hope i can get it off the tracker. I havent seen it in years. I never actually owned a copy either. My mate did, but he's ditched the Stones now and is into Eagle, Boh Jovi and (gasp) Neil Diamond!

Your 'gasp' is in the wrong place. Neil Diamond - probably due to the fact that he recently made an album with Rick Rubin - has actually got a somewhat higher credibility factor than those other pair of musical antichrists, believe it or not.

I remember thinking the same thing when I saw this for the first and only time in the late 80s - but on watching the Youtube clip it's pretty realistic . . . I've been to a million stores in America like that one, with a crappy piles of used records off in a corner, and there's no way that the right album would be in that sleeve.   ;)
