Topic: Stones songs to dance to Return to archive

Voodoo Scrounge Im not a great dancer. But I do like to shake what I got sometimes. However, you cant really dance to a stones song properly without doing a Jagger impression which is tacky.
Beast of burden is good for a slow dance. But what to choose if you want to cut loose!

Mr Jimmy The strange thing is that there doesn't seem to be too many dancers on Rock's Off. Fine if you don't like to dance, but I still think that there must be a high percentage of Stone's fans (worldwide) that love to dance and that's part of the attraction of the Rolling Stones. Perhaps some people just don't like to admit to it? I've always felt that the 'danceability' of the Stones was what separated them from other 'big acts' of their era. Also... it seems that a lot of the Stone songs that seem to scream out 'get up and dance' are songs that come under criticism from long time Stone's fans. Crank up Everything Is Turning To Gold and let the music move your body... but be warned that you might quickly be guilty of a tacky Mick impersonation with out even trying.

gimmekeef Have a few drinks..get loose..and try a real underrated song in my opinion...."Send Her To Me"....and Dance Pt 1 on Emotional Rescue album is also a good dancin tune.
June 22nd, 2005 12:29 PM
texile mr. jimmy - you speak the truth...........
the stones had something most white rock and roll bands didn't have - soul.
that separated them from everybody.
June 22nd, 2005 07:21 PM

PeerQueer Great Post! If the Stones don't get you moving ya gots something wrong witcha!

My personal fave would have to be One Hit to the Body - can't quite explain my need to move about wildly on that one, and there are many other Stones tunes that I like to move to, make sweet love to, get a blowjob to, give a blowjob to, watch someone get/give a blowjob to (ok -too much info., sorry)

But One Hit gets me moving and angry - ready to kick some ass...or do somethin' with some ass.

Important thing for white people, dance to Bill and Charlie, not to the guitar players.

This is BAD!

This is GOOD!

PeerQueer Gypsy,

I don't do hair, but if you are in need of a good cut, I have a few friends who are, though they are all on the East Coast. They do fabulous work!

You sound more like a West Coast gal - Northern California perhaps? Ever been to Carmel? I spend 3-4 weeks there a year- my uncle has a great house two blocks from Carmel Beach. And of course, San Francisco is my #2 favorite West Coast city behind Vancouver B.C., which I spend 2-3 months out of the year shuttling to and from the San Juans--the most beautiful place in the world.

With a tag like Gypsy, I imagine you either travel a great deal or wish to. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why?

PeerQueer Not sure who Joey is, but Nebraska has never interested me. I like to keep close to the water.

glencar I went to a gentleman's club last week & the music they play is horrible. Throbbing hip hop deadens the soul. Dirty Work has some danceable tunes contained within.
June 27th, 2005 04:09 PM
gimmekeef Glencar..when Im in a strip club..the music is the last thing on my mind!...But I know what you mean...
June 27th, 2005 04:12 PM
glencar LOL But it does affect one's mood. I'll put up with that shit for a few minutes but eventually it just makes me want to getout of there quickly.
June 27th, 2005 06:11 PM
PeerQueer Top city for strip clubs - anyone care to chime in?

My money is on Vegas. You can go high-dollar or two-bit dirty - and whatever you want, you can find it there! Lots of $9.99 buffets afterwords to ease your appetite! During the Licks tour this guy I had met said the Stones were nothing more than a high-dollar lounge act these days and Keith should do everyone a favor and just die. We went back and forth until finally I punched him in the mouth. Then he hit me back. We ended up getting kicked out of the strip club by the fattest bouncer I'd ever seen - the guy must have weighed a good 500 pounds. That was not cool as I had just spent about $1200.00 on this one girl I took an interest in. I know the boys have slipped a bit over the years, but that was taking it too far. We made up later though, with a cute little Asian gal we met at a blackjack table later that night...all in all, that was a good two days in Vegas!

Some of my older friends tell me San Francisco was a great spot back in the day, but has since cooled way down--now I go there to unwind.

Vancouver B.C. has some pretty nice cage clubs - and just about more smack per square mile of any place I've been -though of course that is not necessarily a good thing.

glencar Vegas, hands down. Oklahoma City had some real fun palaces too but that's almost 20 years since I have been there.
