Thanks, Soldatti

First impression - musically it's quite lovely, but dragged down by a pretty horrible over the top lead vocal.

Mick didnt record his vocal with the rest of the band, but added an overdub from his studio in France via pro-tools. It shows, unfortunately.  I guess there was no producer on hand to rein in those vocal histrionics.  It's really not in keeping with the other performances on the record. Otherwise, it's a pretty good cover version which bodes well for the rest of the album.

A new recording by The Glimmers is all good - even if they were on different continents.

Like that signature little KR flourish at the end of 'Watching The River Flow'.

And Bill recording with them again? Who'd a thunk.
Ever smoove, of course.

The Japanese distributor of 'Boogie 4 Stu' has posted a YouTube clip with snippets of the album tracks - www.wardrecords.com

Listen for the Ronnie & Keith vocals on 'Worried Life Blues'.

There's also a nice note posted from Charlie, Ronnie and the others sending their best wishes to everyone in Japan.

It's ok. Seems kind of par for the course. Like you had 4 guys all cut something and then it got pasted together. Maybe if they were all in the same place, you know like a band. It would probably sound better. Interesting stuff Ronnie!

too mannered and not enough UMPH.....Charlie with those damn bundled wacker sticks Mick too broad and yet again not guitar driven..let alone the lack of prominent piano.

pretty weak versus their best

This is Charlie and Mick's show. Not a lot of guitar on first listen but it sure does swing. Has an old time and upbeat feel to it.  I like Keef's twangy lead mixed in with the horns and Ronnie is in there too.  I noticed them on second listen with headphones. Nice harp to play the song out with the drums and horns.

For me, this feels alive. I like it. You can dance to it too. Grab a woman and have a twirl.

Agree with Gazza but I still love it because it has that unique Stones stamp on it. If any one of them did this on their own, it would sound vastly different. It does seem like a pasted job though which is incredibly annoying because these guys who are all loaded can't get together and record a song for someone as important as Ian Stewart. Instead of guys I should say Mick and Keith. It strikes me less as a Bigger Bang and more like the sound on Stripped.
