Rolling Stones / Talk Is Cheap DELUXE - 29 de Marzo 2019
« : enero 14, 2019, 04:22:33 pm »
30 años después se viene el deluxe con singles, sesiones y memorabilia de tan prestigiado album debut!!!

In 1988, during a creative break of the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards realized his first solo album Talk Is Cheap. This acclaimed debut is a masterful collection of eleven songs that offers the best of rock'n'roll, with guest musicians such as Sarah Dash, Bootsy Collins, Maceo Parker, The Memphis Horns, Patti Sciafia, and Mick Taylor. Digitally remastered from the original tapes by Keith Richards' longtime collaborator and former co-producer Steve Jordan, the album's thoroughly joyous mood was revived in each song. Talk Is Cheap sounds as up to date as it did 30 years ago in Keith's words: as fresh as the day they were made.

Deluxe box set includes:
- Remastered 180g LP album
- 180g LP with bonus material
- 7 Single Take It So Hard / I Could Have Stood You Up
- 7 Single Make No Mistake / It Means A Lot
- Remastered CD Album
- CD includes 6 unpublished bonus titles
- Extensive 80-page hardcover book with liner notes by Anthony De Curtis, including a new Keith Richards interview and rare photos of Richard's personal archive.
- Tourpass
- 2 x text sheets
- Reproduction of the Talk Is Cheap Playback Invitation
- Talk is Cheap Tour guitar pick
- 2 x poster

The contents are packed in an exquisite deluxe foil box wrapped in a Fender guitar case material.

How To Manage The Rolling Stones: ‘If you start taking it for granted, that's Doomsday'

By David Roberts
28 August, 2018

MBW’s World’s Greatest Managers series profiles the best artist managers in the global business. This time, we speak in-depth to Joyce Smyth, the manager of The Rolling Stones for the past eight years – and a team member for a lot longer than that. The World’s Greatest Managers is supported by Centtrip Music, the currency exchange specialist which helps artists, managers and music businesses obtain an optimum currency exchange deal.

Sometimes it’s good to find an angle.

Sometimes it’s good to dive into the subject unexplored, to ask the question unexpected.

Other times, very rare times, the only thing to do is start with: So, what’s it like managing The Rolling Stones?

Like when you’re interviewing Joyce Smyth, the manager of The Rolling Stones, for instance.

Thankfully, she is polite enough, to ignore the neon ‘REALLY?’ sign flashing in her mind, and give a proper answer.

“It is”, she says, “like being the conductor of a rather wonderful orchestra. And that doesn’t just include them [the band], it includes everyone.

“We have the best in class in all departments. Be it the record company, the producers, the designers. It’s fabulous to be the conductor, to be interfacing with all these different people, this great team; it’s terrific – and such a privilege.”

In recent years, it’s been about managing a very busy band, and a band enjoying huge success with a new record as well as touring one of the greatest catalogs in rock’n’roll.

Blue & Lonesome, released in December 2016, went to No. 1 in the UK and No. 4 in the US, whilst the 17/18 No Filter Tour saw the Stones play 28 shows, grossing a total of $237.8 million.

The combined age of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, in case you were wondering, is 297.

For more crass questions along the lines of our opener, and for a horribly missed opportunity to make a gag about Their Satanic Majesties’ Holiday Request Forms (you’ll know it when you see it), read on.

You’ll find out how a girl who was turned on to music by a nun running up a hill eventually found herself in control of a band who had sympathy for the devil, redefined debauchery, and ended up as pillars, if not of British society, then certainly of British identity…

CONFESSIN’ THE BLUES – IN COLLABORATION WITH THE ROLLING STONES
The Rolling Stones have always been the biggest champions of the blues, even taking their name from the Muddy Waters’ track ‘Rollin’ Stone’ – so who better to have hand-picked a special compilation album of the music that has inspired them throughout their career.

Confessin’ The Blues collects together the greatest ever bluesmen, such as Chuck Berry, B.B King, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James and Muddy Waters and provides a perfect education to the genre. The tracklisting on the various formats has been chosen by The Rolling Stones, in collaboration with BMG & Universal and will be released on November 9th 2018.

Our very own Ronnie Wood hand painted the cover art, which depicts the raw passion and emotion the blues artists channeled into their music.

As such big supporters of the genre, the band and BMG have decided that 10% of BMG’s net receipts* from the sale of this album (with a minimum of £0.65 (2CD) / £1.25 (2LP) / £3.00 (Bookpack) UK pounds sterling) will be donated to Willie Dixon’s Blues Heaven Foundation (Registered as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organisation in the United States.)
