1) do i have any way of ascertaining which of the
four MSG shows was the best? or the craziest?
Nope. I have no idea what boots exist, and don't
care

2) I do know that bianca and woody allen were
talking about my show, the afternoon show

3) From my small hometown in NJ, twenty of us
attended. We each had promised to send in 20
postcards. there were 2 million postcards sent in
for 80,000 tickets, 4 tiks per winner, 20 thousand
winners, about a 1% chance, so our 5 winners
was only slightly better than chance. The only
slightly strange thing was that all our 5 winners
got the afternoon show. But this was fortunate
since all 20 of us got to go, nobody could try
to go to two shows

4) what do i remember about the music? two things:
how incredibly tight the band was, and how mick
taylor just soared over everything. it blew my
mind how creative and melodic he could be in
the middle of the maelstrom. (for the record,
i've since changed my mind quite a bit, and now
much prefer ronnie's integral approach. but on
that day in July 72...)

5) when the Stones finished, the crowd stomped and
cheered and begged for an encore for a good 15
minutes. the lights were up, guys with brooms were
onstage sweeping up the rose petals, and still
we cheered ourselves hoarse. and even though we
didnt get an encore, NOBODY felt cheated. even
after we gave up, many of us still sat there,
trying to absorb the experience, before slowly
filing out, shaking our heads in awe.

6) and it was that way at a party that night,
where we who attended the show were about half
the partiers. Just shaking our heads and laughing.
