I deserve a place in this thread, having posted the following yesterday:
Having followed closely, and with admiration, the skillfully targeted social
media marketing of the Stones' tours since 2012, I have to say I find the
non-marketing of the current tour more than a bit bizarre.
Either 1) I have vastly underestimated the Stones' current automatic appeal
in the USA to the event junky/bucket list crowd, or 2) this tour is about to be
delayed for some "unavoidable" reason.
Big prediction bro. Your The Rock prediction scares me now.
a) Obviously its a buzz when I nail something like this, so I'll blather on a bit
while the high lasts, before returning to my meditating and fasting
b) I had been thinking about making this prediction for almost a month, but
I just couldn't pull the trigger. The lack of marketing was just screaming out
for an explanation. The collapse of the Super Bowl marketing scheme for
No Filter USA (see my remarks below from the Tour thread) had me saying
to myself "OK, Mick, so what's plan B?" Mick always has a plan B. But
much to my puzzlement plan B never appeared, until i just had to make
note of it with the above prediction (while still hoping i was wrong)
c) But now I realize THIS was plan B all along. For Mick to sick out as
the only means to salvage the tour.
d) One contributing factor is that the USA will be in a much better,
more partying mood next year after Dwayne Johnson defeats
Donald Trump in the March 3 California winner-take-all Republican
primary. Just about everybody will be happy to see the Divisiveness Era
come to an end, with President Rock and his female vice-president,
(formerly a presidential candidate from the other party).
(Full disclosure, I do not support Dwayne or any other presidential
candidate. But I have placed a good sized bet on Dwayne 2020,
like I did on Trump 2016)
re-post of my explanatory remarks from the Tour thread:1) I've noticed for months now that this tour was not being marketed in
any way that made sense, given the pricing and the size of the venues
2) I think the circumstantial evidence of a collapse in the effort to use
the Maroon 5 halftime show to market the Stones NFL tour is persuasive.
In the end, Adam Levine would only agree to Jagger having a minor
cameo, where Mick would only consider a star-of-the-show appearance.
Levine was so angry he would not even say the word "jagger" when M5
did a 30-second version of their biggest hit.
3) I wrote in December that the Stones needed the Super halftime show
to fill the NFL venues, and apparently i was right.
4) So i'll make another guess now. The shows will be rescheduled but
not until the same months in 2020.
5) And yes, this means I believe Mick's health is fine.
I'm pretty sure Mick has been chilling on Mustique with Noor
while Melhamrick got packed off to collude with the Russians.
Lucky in Love: "Doctor, doctor, doctor, get me a nurse!"
