Lech Walesa published this open letter to the Stones on his facebook page yesterday. It'd be interesting to see if Mick made any comment in response to it from the stage this evening - although knowing the Stones, it'd be highly unlikely unfortunately

Letter to Mr. Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones.

The Rolling Stones!
Your wonderful band is coming to Poland.
Again!
People are looking forward to your performance so much. But there are bad things happing in Poland right now. We dare ask for your attention because of the memories of outstanding, courageous people who fought for freedom in the Eastern Block.
They sacrificed much for freedom of speech. For freedom of the arts. They understood that for the protection of liberties, the courts must be independent from the government. So this was one important objective of their struggle. You knew such individuals. Vaclav Havel was one of them. Today, the fruits of their work are in peril. The current regime wants to destroy the independence of courts in Poland.
Last year, it incapacitated the Constitutional Court.
Now, in clear violation of the Constitution, it is firing a third of Supreme Court .Justices in order to install puppets.

THIS IS NOT FREEDOM.

Many people in Poland are defending freedom, but they need support. If you can say or do anything while in Poland, it would really mean something to them.

Mick Jagger speaks to support Poland’s judges at Warsaw gig

WARSAW – News portals in Poland say Mick Jagger made a reference to Poland’s controversial judicial system overhaul during a Rolling Stones concert.

According to Gazeta.pl, Jagger spoke in Polish to fans at Sunday’s concert in Warsaw’s National Stadium, saying: “I am too old to be a judge but not too old to sing.” One of the judicial changes is setting an age limit for judges.

Polish democracy icon Lech Walesa sent a letter to the rock group Saturday asking it to make a gesture of support for Poland’s judges and the rule of law. Many European institutions say Poland is threatened by the overhaul implemented by the right-wing government.

According to Onet.pl, Jagger also said Poles should see how much they have achieved since the band’s 1967 Warsaw concert.
