Ryan Adams To Headline Exile On Bourbon St.

MARCH 28, 2018 | BLACKBIRD NEWS & PRESS, EXILE ON BOURBON ST. | DON WAS, ROLLING STONES, RYAN ADAMS

We are proud to announce iconic singer-songwriter Ryan Adams will headline Exile on Bourbon St., a once-in-a-lifetime concert event set to take place Saturday, May 5 at New Orleans’ Saenger Theatre. He joins longtime Rolling Stones producer and the concert event’s music director, Don Was, and an all-star group of musicians to perform one of the greatest albums in music history, Exile on Main St., in its entirety. Additional musicians to be announced in the coming weeks.

With decades of acclaimed work to his credit, and accolades ranging from “one of the most elegant singer-songwriters of his generation” (The New York Times) to “one of the few truly great roots-rock troubadours left” (Entertainment Weekly), Ryan Adams performing this momentous double album is among the year’s most anticipated concert events. One of the most prolific and successful musician/producers of all time, Don Was is also known for his longstanding work with the Rolling Stones, stretching back to 1994’s Voodoo Lounge. In 2010, Was had the honor of producing and re-mixing the re-released version of Exile on Main St.

Tickets go on sale Monday, April 2 at 10 AM CT via Livenation.com, by phone 800-745-3000, and at the Saenger Theatre Box Office.

Keith Wortman is the Creator and Executive Producer of this concert event.

“Ryan Adams, Don Was, and the best musicians in New Orleans playing these songs at Jazz Fest is exactly what our country needs right now. This music means so much to so many people. I am counting down the days until May 5th,” says Keith Wortman, CEO of Blackbird Presents.

“I’ve listened to all the multi-track tapes from the EXILE period and it’s not hyperbolic to say that this is probably the greatest rock ‘n roll ever recorded! I can’t wait to dig deep into these songs with The Mighty Ryan Adams and this incredible group of musicians,” says Don Was, music director of the concert event.

This show continues Blackbird Presents’ annual iconic “Second Weekend at The Saenger” concert series. Previous concert events include New Orleans Is Waiting For Columbus, The Last Waltz New Orleans: A Celebration Of The 40th Anniversary of The Last Waltz, Nevilles Forever: A Celebration of The Neville Brothers and Their Music, and The Musical Mojo of Dr. John: Celebrating Mac and His Music.

It should be very good but what would be fvcking GREAT is if The Stones would start doing this. It would be a dream come true to hear them play Exile in its entirety. They did Sticky Fingers once; I'm pretty sure it was in LA. So cool if they were to do this concept but nah, cant happen. Maybe for a special show? You never know. Grin

It'll never happen because the album is too long and he's shit scared of looking down and seeing bored faces.

Its bizarre that a performer of his talent is actually insecure about things like this.

However, it actually says more about the sort of audiences the Stones have tailored their show towards in the 21st century.

Exile only has one warhorse and probably one other song thats a concert staple - and that one is sung by Keith.

Thats a lot of bathroom break songs for the average bucket-lister.
