Stones Just Completed Another 'Recording' Session ..

Grant it ... this is from their Facebook Sessions page (not really anything 100% official .. BUT this source has been reliable in the past and they seem to have some inside connection with the band and their official group of folks). Still The Stones and much of their entourage 'were' all together recently in London at a studio (British Grove Studios).

Recording is most likely almost all but finished (if not 100% complete after this last session) ..that is ... if they actually plan to having it released this year (considering the fall tour coming up and they're schedules going to be full during late summer with all that). Album would need mixed... and they could have it out this late fall if this is the case.. just saying.

I expect an October / November release from them ..

Its from Martin Elliott's "Stones Sessions" page (he authored the book of the same name)

Its got nothing to do with the band itself, but he's spot on with his info.

First report came last week when the Metro newspaper reported that they were in a studio 'rehearsing' for a tour (it was quite obvious it wasnt for that)

It's only rock ’n roll – but a new Rolling Stones studio album is set to make the band a whopping £2million.

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, both 73, have been in recording studios in London and New York recently, and label Universal has renewed their contract for a new album.
Along with Ronnie Wood, 70, and Charlie Watts, 76, they will release a live compilation album around Christmas.

Then next year the band will bring out a new studio record to coincide with the end of their forthcoming European tour.

Yesterday a music insider said: ‘Both Mick and Keith would rather be carried off stage in a coffin than give up their great love – writing and making music.


‘They were experimenting in the studio earlier this year, and everything just gelled. They ended up with around 15 tracks which they have cut down to album-length, and when the label execs heard it they were thrilled.

‘Age is no barrier to brilliant music, and there is no doubt the new stuff will sell.’ Richards was spotted in the studio in Manhattan on Thursday tinkering with the latest sound, while Jagger had been spotted making music a few weeks earlier.

The Stones’ last album Blue & Lonesome – their first studio record for more than a decade – went straight to number one on its release in December last year. And their latest tour, which begins in Hamburg in September, sold out in minutes.

£2 million is about $2.5 million. The Stones wouldnt attend a photoshoot for that amount of money ffs.

The story looks pretty ludicrous. I doubt that any industry executives could have heard an album that apparently isnt due for release until about a year from now.

"A music insider said" invariably means "we just made this quote up"

Cant see why it wouldnt be released this year or that it would be put back in favour of a 'live compilation'

If it takes a band with three songwriters two years to finish an album of about 10-12 songs after not having released a new record in over a decade, then that would suggest either its going to be the album of their career or that the game is up, creatively.

Don't know why everyone is so stuck on 'the vaults' theory or that they should go over only stuff that is in the supposed vaults (possibly there is not much there of potential .. possibly they aren't interested in that .. possibly they wanna start fresh ...) 

They may of went back to some stuff they started before .. sure ...but as well it appears they have new stuff as well.

I gotta say ... this 'vaults' theory (or hope) has no solid basis .. Nor does going back to these supposed vaults (with all this supposed possible material with good potential) ensure a good product ... any more than coming up with all new material. Most of the stuff in the vaults may be just that.. grade B stuff or stuff that wont go anywhere .. which is why none of it made it to an album in the first place .. ....

Let's let the 'vaults thing' go until we actually HEAR they sifted through old ideas or reworked / worked up older material Lol

I think all the rumors about the Stones recording was actually Mick's solo stuff. The hounds on IORR tracked down a ton of evidence to suggest a solo Mick Jagger track or two will be released shortly.

Charlie has been MIA, Ronnie off with the kids, Keith here and there with family vacations, Anita's funeral..., and Mick has been doing solo tunes.

The BBC sessions are the next big release for Stones Inc., not a studio album.

Posting a link to a 'new' story from Metro about the Stones going to 'tour rehearsals' in London - a story which turned out to be from June 7 and which actually showed them going got a recording session.

You'd think he of all people would be aware of a Stones tour rehearsal ......

Was not from six months ago. Was shot in early May (May 2) ..

I dont think anyone is melting with excitement for anything.. if they are shame on them. There is no sign of a new record any time soon .. although one is certainly being worked on here and there and it is on a top priority for next year as a release ... (after No Filter of course).

It is almost August .. there will be no Rolling Stones album this fall (thats been obvious for a while) .. and there most likely will not be one this Winter. The Stones have shown absolutely no urgency in getting it done for this year and guess what.. We almost certainly will not see a record from them this year.

Is definitely on plans / and being worked on ...  and hopefully will happen next year.. (the album is not yet finished anyway).

Lol .. Well anyone melting over a possible record coming this year is in for yet another pretty large let-down .. The Stones .. their reps .. show no indication of anything coming from them studio wise this year. Let's face it.. they just arent that concerned about getting it done this year.. In fact... seems to be they threw that idea aside a little while ago.


HOWEVER .. they may be concerned about getting it done as good as possible . and getting it right .. for release next year ....as has been indicated.

Its been in the works now, on and off, for about 21 months.

Seriously - how difficult can it be for a band who have not released an album of new material for 12 years - to come up with 10 or 12 decent new songs, considering there are three songwriters amongst them?

And its not as if expectations are sky-high at this point in their career either. They're in their mid 70s, culturally irrelevant (as is rock 'n' roll in general), the music industry is in terminal decline and their target audience is old and doesn't really care about new material anyway. And it doesnt have to be released to 'promote' or 'justify'  a tour either.  Those days ended over a decade ago.

Just put the fucker out and get it over with. If they dont, they run the risk of half of their audience dying before they release it

Somehow Jagger managed to write/record/produce/release 2 songs in about 3 months as well as supervise and approve various remixes...

I miss the days of an album with 10 or 12 decent songs NOT watered down with 6 more POS songs...The Stones catalogue from VL onward has suffered because of the 80 min/700 MB  CD capabilities
