Ronnie has done some great solo stuff. Start with his first" Ive Got My Own Album To Do".....think you'll enjoy it. I would have liked to see the Keith segment split to one Keith tune and another featuring Ronnie with Keith backing.

Good thread. Lets run with it.

'Gimme Some Neck' is my favourite of Woody's solo albums.

I love this one. The intro is raggedly sublime

Ronnie turned in some stellar pedal steel performances around the 'Some Girls' era and this is no exception. Charlie on drums and Mac on organ makes it even better

Groooovy

Slide On This is a great way to start [search for these tracks: Testify, Ain't Rock And Roll.] And that album he then had to do, which is nice [Far East Man, I Can Feel The Fire.]

Woody supervised and released these two a couple years ago.

First one from '74 with Keith, Mac, Willie Weeks (bass) and Andy Newmark (drums) from the first and second album ('Now Look').

Band is better live than studio; has DVD of the show and CD.
...

This one's from '79 supporting Woody's 'Gimme Some Neck' album. Band is Woody, Keef, Mac, Bobby Keys, Ziggy Modeliste from the Meters on drums and, incredibly (weirdly!) - Stanley Clarke on bass.

Loads of fun, though Woody sometimes sounds so fucked up he sounds like he's about to vomit when singing!

'If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Some Brolly'; the un-released Womack collaboration 'Too Close For Kumquats'; the "shoe-shine boy" in 'Mystifies Me'... it's all lovely stuff, charleen? But 'right up there' is maybe 'This Little Heart', the duet-ish ditty with Leah.
Presumably there must have been some period, worthy of being considered for argument as being solo-ish, when RW conceived-ish, formatively, of the 'Hey Negrita' lick/groove, unless it just popped out of his head upon arrival in Rotterdam for his rehearsal as the more groovier and cheerful one. 'Sweetness My Weakness' is lovely; ''Thinkin'' too.
Just because he was named Ronald, it doesn't mean he shouldn't he taken seriously.

There are so many great ones. Glyn Johns said that when he joined the Stones, a great musical talent became the court jester. There is some truth to it. The other part is that guitar playing is a craft. He would have been a much better guitar player (he is already wonderful) if he had treated it like that and not got stoned and hammered for over 40 years. These are a couple of my favorites and the one with Ronnie Lane is as good as anything Jagger and Richards have ever done:

I also like Slide on this and slide on live. Even not for beginners is a nice album. The dvd from one of the show is fun to watch. Ronnie doesn't look too good there.

Never cared for his last one, feel like playing
