Looks like Rod Stewart will be reuniting with his surviving former bandmates in the Faces next month, even if it’s just for a one-time charity concert. The show — which will benefit Prostate Cancer U.K. — will take place on Sept. 5 at the Hurtwood Park Polo Club in Ewhurst, Surrey, as part of Rock ‘n’ Horsepower.

“This year is the 40th anniversary since the Faces parted ways, so it’s about time we got together for a jam!” said Stewart in a note on his website. “Being in the Faces back in the day was a whirlwind of madness, but my God, it was beyond brilliant. We are pleased to be able to support Prostate Cancer U.K.”

Stewart will be joined by former Faces guitarist Ronnie Wood and drummer Kenney Jones, the only other surviving members of the original quintet. Bassist Ronnie Lane died in 1997, and keyboardist Ian McLagan died last December.

“Getting back onstage with the lads playing ‘Stay With Me’ and other favorites will be a blast and will make this a very special night,” said Wood. “Being in the Faces was a mad and brilliant time for all of us, and although we don’t have Ronnie and Mac with us anymore, this is our chance to remember them and say ‘Had Me a Real Good Time.’”

Back in January, Stewart celebrated his 70th birthday with his old pals and performed a few songs with his former bandmates at a private party. Three years ago, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but Stewart pulled out of the ceremony at the last minute because he wasn’t feeling well. Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall filled in for him.

So this may be your only opportunity to see the Faces perform. Three months ago, Wood said that Stewart’s management was holding up any sort of Faces reunion, rumors of which had been swirling for years. And with a new Stewart solo album due for release on Oct. 23, it doesn’t look like any other band performances will be happening in 2015.

Kenny's a wonderful drummer, just wrong for the Who, although Keith when he died was playing like a mentally delayed 5 year old. Not that there's anything wrong with that (witness Won't Get Fooled Again from The Kids Are Alright).

Rubbish. Yes, Kenny was wrong for the Who, but they had a big tour booked, Kenny was a mate, knew the material well enough. Similar situation to the Clash asking Terry Chimes back for the '82 'Combat Rock' tour, after Topper being sacked.

This is the Faces we're talking about, not the Who. Kenny was and is a magnificent drummer - great pulse, very catchy fills. And unlike Moon-era Who, you can dance to the Faces.

More like a not very technically gifted 11 year old jazz player trying to have fun whilst very high and drunk with some other very obnoxious cats who are ostensibly ignoring each other yet come up with this wonderful sound.

Dude, great as he was, Moonie was the un-sexiest drummer ever. Ya know what was so great about 'Who's Next', besides the songs? Glyn Johns got Keith to play a facsimile of a rock n' roll pulse. And by 'Quadrophenia' he was washed up; by 'Who By Numbers' he was so bad he often fell off his drum stool live; by 'Who Are You' he may as well have been some fat assed biker in a no account bar band trying to get laid.
