When and where is your band playing, and what is its setlist? I'm too fucking old to be trying to be Mick fucking Jagger sunshine. Anyway, we did ORIGINAL material. Not stealing other people's music. And it's still a bloody, bollocks shambles set list. Oh, we are a Stones cover band, not tribute band, so we don't wear costumes, although I subconciously do some Keith moves since I've been obsessed with him for 35+ years. We also bill ourselves as a Stones cover band, so I'm pretty sure people know titles like Satisfaction, Under My Thumb, and Jumpin Jack Flash are Stones songs and not our own since we bill ourselves as a . . .Stones cover band. Don't think we are stealing, simply paying homage. I actually like the setlist and don't believe it's bollocks or shambles -- I wish I could say the same for our performance, which had many moments of shambles, think Garden State '78 or Blind Date - at times it was that sloppy -- no polish here, we came from the garage. You seem to have strong feelings on supposed stealing and hatred of cover bands. Lots of resentment. And you're an Aussie, right? My God, it's all making sense: you were in Men at Work, right? WOW. Not everyone from a land Down Under (sorry, that must hurt) could end up in the mighty Saints. Let go of the bitterness. You had a good run. Let's get something straight for a kick off. I am not an Aussie, I am a Londoner who currently on and off resides in Australia. OK! Every band I have played in, and play with admittadely does Stones songs. But not an entire Stones set list.
In Australia during the late 80s, early 90s these unimaginative groups, artists flooded the club scene making it impossible for young, raw talent with real potential to get a look in. The Zep Boys, The Rolling Clones, Back In Black, Revolver,Masters Of Reality, etc, etc. Bollocks!
It is a waste of talent, time and energy. As Keith himself said back in 73; refering to The New York Dolls, "Why do they have to be such an obvious copy of us?" David Johannson, Johnny Thunders, and they weren't even a tribute band.
Nothing is more satisfying than being your own thing, writing, and recording your own music, and have people appreciate it. Sure I was heavily influenced by the Stones, that's only natural, but to out and out copy them, song for song is just sad. Now, as I said, as far as I am concerned that set list is still a bloody shambles. No cohesion, As Tears Go By as a closer, Come on! Finally; no LIVING on and off in (a land down under) doesn't hurt. As I have said, I'm a Brit', born not a Stones throw away from Dartford, and I fucking despise Men At Work.
