You missed Can't Turn You Loose after JJF there.

Outstanding set list, best in decades. But what a shame that this man missed out the album he shined on more than any other  taylor made smile

The other thing that makes me laugh and not in a good way is that the marketing geniuses that are the Rolling Stones play this show on the night of Letterman's last show. Which item do you think will make the main entertainment news? What a joke.

Sorry. I had to go to sleep at some point.

I don't know about the rest of you, but whilst it was a lovely gesture on the Stones' part to charge next to nothing for a ticket it bugs the fuck out of me to read reports of fans standing outside the theatre for a couple of days and not getting in, yet there were many people seen leaving the theatre barely 15-20 minutes after the gig started.

Everything that's wrong with the 21st century farce of a 'music industry' in a nutshell

I agree. It's unfortunate that misleading the fans is so very much a part of these faux social media events...I choose to believe the Stones are not actively involved in the heartless deception of the their true support system so don't wake me...

Just reading Richard Fox's review on Facebook (can't copy and paste it yet as I'm on my phone). Travelled all the way from New Zealand, queued outside and wouldn't have got in only for a friend of a friend having a spare VIP pass.  Thankfully he made it in and had a night to remember.

He says that before they were allowed into the venue, about 30 models were ushered in ahead of them. The talk in the queue was that only about 100 tickets were made available to the public in the online sale. Bv reckons there were no more than 700 people at the gig. Lots of space taken up by film crews and sound engineers etc

Here is what I have seen and heard.

Most people that got in weren't real fans and have never seen the Stones....according to many of the pericope videos.

The tickets were actually free. They put $5 (plus fees) on the AXS page, I guess to collect identify information, but no one's credit card will be charged, at least that's what some official said on a video.

....On to Sunday, and oh yes, periscope, what a joke....

I was hoping it would be a $500 charity event, thus giving me a better chance to get in....kinda funny, I would pay $500 to charity for this, but not to a scalper, I guess I do have a drop of ethics
Shut the fuck up now

Rolling Stones rev up tour at L.A. club show

Bill Keveney, USA TODAY

...

LOS ANGELES -- The Rolling Stones don't need anyone to start them up. They do it themselves.

The legendary British rock & roll band launched – just about in the literal sense – its 2015 North American tour Wednesday with a rollicking 90-minute set in front of about 1,000 fans at Hollywood's Fonda Theatre.

The rumored concert, which sold out immediately when tickets were put on sale earlier in the day, served as a club-sized warm-up to the summer's 15-city Zip Code stadium tour, which starts Sunday at San Diego's Petco Park.

"This is the first show of our tour. Sunday, we're going to San Diego to play for San Diegans," said front man and lead singer Mick Jagger, who was joined by his longtime bandmates, guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood and drummer Charlie Watts.

The few lucky fans who got tickets for the Fonda, which can hold about 1,200 people, got a free concert, paying roughly $5 per ticket and later being reimbursed for the full amount. Cameras and phones weren't allowed in the concert.

Not surprisingly, the Stones drew their share of celebrities, including Jack Nicholson, Bruce Willis, Harry Styles, Kesha, Andy Garcia, Dave Stewart, Joe Pesci, Ben Harper, Leonard Cohen, Patricia Arquette, Eric Idle, Steven Van Zandt, Don Was, Brian Grazer and Georgia May Jagger.

"It's great to be back in Los Angeles," Jagger said during the show, noting the theater venue is "a bit smaller than Staples Center." The Fonda show was labeled Zip Code 90028, reflecting the Hollywood zip code, and reflects the band's habit of kicking off big tours with a surprise show at a smaller venue.

The Stones, led by an amazingly energetic Jagger, began the concert, fittingly, with Start Me Up, the first of 16 songs that included a tribute to the late B.B. King, Rock Me, Baby ("We loved him as a guy and we love his music," said Jagger, who played harmonica and sang, "Rock Me B.B.") and all 10 songs from the Stones' classic 1971 album, Sticky Fingers, which is being reissued June 9 in North America.

During the show, a lean Jagger, wearing a long-sleeve black t-shirt, strutted authoritatively back and forth on the stage, spinning gracefully and gesturing expressively with his hands and arms. Richards smiled more and more as the show went on, breaking into a broad grin during a raucous Jumpin' Jack Flash late in the show. They seemed to be having fun.

Jagger, 71, who has played with Richards as part of the Stones for more than 50 years, said performing the entire Sticky Fingers album was "something we had never done before." Showing a playful side, he reminded fans of record albums: "We used to make records and they went round and round. They had cardboard covers."

He continued: "We'll be doing (the songs) in the order of the 8-track tape," bringing back memories for much of the audience, which included younger fans mixed in with a healthy helping of baby boomers. "A lot of this is a joke, so don't be too literal."

The band opened the 10-song Sticky Fingers portion of the concert with Sway, with Jagger telling Wood at the end, "Very nice, Ronnie."

Before performing Sister Morphine, Jagger warned the audience: "There may be a lot of '60s drug references in this record, which could puzzle some people. ... It was a great, groovy scene."

The band got such big applause for the Sticky Fingers tracks that Jagger quipped, "Next year, we'll come back and do the whole of Satanic Majesties," a reference to the band's 1967 album, Their Satanic Majesties Request.

The four longtime bandmates were joined on stage by as many as seven other musicians, including Darryl Jones (bass); Chuck Lavell (keyboard); Matt Clifford (keyboards and French horn); Lisa Fischer (vocal); Bernard Fowler (vocal); Karl Denison (saxophone); and Tim Ries (saxophone).

The set list included:

Start Me Up

When the Whip Comes Down

All Down the Line

The next 10 from 1971 album Sticky Fingers

Sway

Dead Flowers

Wild Horses

Sister Morphine

You Gotta Move (with Richards on 12-string guitar)

SO the band is pumped up and ready, the kick off the club show event was a success, so on to the Zip Code Tour (or as I like to call it), the Zipper tour. Sounds cooler. THIS SHOW WAS EPIC! I hope they release it soon!

Here's Foxy's review which I mentioned in a post up the page. Dude flew all the way from Auckland, New Zealand for this. What a trooper - would have been tragic had he been shut out. He also mentioned that there was no mention of Bobby Keys at any time - Karl Denson took a centre stage spotlight during Cant You Hear Me Knockin':

Wednesday May 20th LA
Up early at 6am in the pursuit of tickets. Specific game plan for me to get a ticket was unknown. We went to the Fonda around 730pm and there were 25+ people. Sat in the car contemplating what to do. History tells you that tickets are never sold at the venue so we didn't think it would happen.
Went off and had breakfast. Back at Fonda around 830 (?). Decided we had no better intel on tickets so decided to queue there. Ben and I about 50th in queue. Word then came by a couple of different sources that public announcement would be made at 945am. Exactly on queuing the RS tweeted about online sales. So basically a one in a million chance. Rumour was it was only 100 tickets.
In the mean time my mate had a friend who had a spare vip ticket. He generously convinced him to let me have the ticket. I was beyond happy!
Then we tried to get more tickets for others online. Everyone in the queue tried to get them on their phones. No one managed to get any. Some stayed to get tickets at Fonda and some went to El Rey to try. In the end I don't think pretty much anyone who didn't have a friend /connection or a Internet ticket got in.

FYI - The $5 tickets had $5 of fees added making a total of $10. When the people picked up their tickets they were also refunded the $10 in cash!!! Amazing!!

We all agreed the online thing was shit and very unfair.
So to 5pm we are lining up with our pink Vip wristbands. Slowly the yellow wristband online buyers started to arrive from the El Rey pickup.

Next were 30 odd models arriving. ...they went in first much to our disgust. Then the yellow online buyers and finally us pink Vip ones. So there were at least 100 people inside the venue before I got in Sad

Ended up 4th row on Ronnie side. Not too bad and just super happy to be inside anyway. I got Ronnie's Knocking pick!!!

As you know the set list was magic. Probably only 1 new song for me - you gotta move ....but I need to check.

Band were great especially Mick. Most enjoyed Moonlight Mile the most. I prefered I got the blues but it was all good.
Sadly lots of friends didn't get in. I was very lucky too. They had shirts and posters for sale.

What's the deal with brown sugar being last?
Was this really the eight track order like they tweeted?
They also tweeted miss you in the middle of sticky last night.
Why not just go in lip order, they've got plenty of warhorses for after moonlight mile.

That's the one thing I wished I'd seen, a club gig just like that, maybe the 100 Club in London 1982.
