Is it an actual different mix/take? Or is it just filtered out older version?

I seriously cannot  tell

Neat job on the video.
Like the zipper -- it is a clever hook.

Any word on when that version was recorded -- do any of our super-sleuths know when/where details of the recording?

It sounds very much like the version captured in the Gimme Shelter video, but I know they dicked around with that song a buncha times in between 69 and its release in May of 71.

Just curious if anyone knows.
Gazza will know -- he knows this shit like crazy!

It's a Fauxtake….
all they did was use a different mix and remove certain parts, with electric guitars and some other overdubs.
same vocals with a slight boost on the acoustic guitars.
I don't hear any other differences… They may have used a different vocal mix, for some parts, not 100% sure, sounds like it may have a different take, but it's hard to tell if it's just not clearer vocals without the electric guitar parts.

Haha.... I wouldnt be so sure. If only I could get access to their studio logs. Quite a few folks on these forums can pick these things apart far better than I can.

I'm with Pdog on this one. It just sounds like the same take as the version we already have. (mind you, I've only listened to it once)

Started at Muscle Shoals in December 1969 and finished at Olympic Studios two months  later.

Gaz…
Do you think Leeds will be in stereo?
Multitracks were used to record. Let It Rock official was in stereo…
If it's mono, even the missing tracks will be a let down…
I'm glad I have Sway single version, they are dropping the ball with the bonus stuff… none of the bonus discs have had the single versions…boo!!!! I got them in great bootleg quality anyway…but! I like them official too… Sway and All Down The Line from Exile both standout as versions officially released as singles, that would've made great bonus material. And The Some Girls single versions and 8 Track tape mixes.

Tough call - I think the chorus vocals are definitely a different take, and Charlie's drums (which I've studied like a some bloody academic) lead me to believe the whole thing, therefore, is a different take. At the 3:31 point there's a clear rimshot on his snare that's not there on the original; not a rimshot per se, but his stick only hitting the drum rim - just a 'click'. A couple other things as well, very subtle things like a high hat pop, or the exact phrasing of a tom fill...real nerd stuff.

If it is a different basic track, they sure were focusing  hard back then, because it's so nearly identical.

The final "We'll ride them someday" is not read quickly, as it is on the released take.  The opening "Childhood living..." has dragged-up-from the-throat sounds preceding it, also not on the released take.

I've heard this vocal track on bootleg versions before - I think of it as the "head cold" take.

Yep, which also begs the question: if they didn't have enough bonus shit, why not do this for the rest of the songs on the frigging album?

I'm SOOOOO underwhelmed by this release.  It's really bland.  And the tour?  Forget it.  I'm not gonna go out of my way with Mick Taylor once again ushered out the side door and no Sticky Fingers album shows planned.  Same shit, different day.

That's their new song!

"SAME SHIT!" (kick drum twice) "DIFF'RENT DAY!"

Let's write lyrics for them.

The fact that theyre releasing the complete Leeds show would lead me to believe its likely they're releasing the original stereo multitracks of the show, whereas the broadcast would have been in mono (BBC Radio didnt start broadcasting on FM until the late 80's)

I think you and Mr Yeats may be correct. Was just reading Anthony DeCurtis' facebook page after he posted the video and he reckons its the Muscle Shoals take that was featured in "Gimme Shelter" as well.

I'm no expert but, sounds very much like a cleaned up version of the version originally used on initial copies of 'HOT ROCKS' vol.I (vinyl 1971. Also avalible on various boots like 'Itchy Fingers'.[/b]
