I find them distracting. I understand that they are part of the "performance" "the spectcle", the pageant" and "the show" that some entertainers need to have...ex/ Madonna, The Boy Bands, The Madonna-wannas and the Vegas lot...
For the musicians and bands that are not "entertainers" and more straight forward, I find them distracting. That is why Bowie's glass Spider tour was utter crap to me...
