Just started Glynn Johns', recording engineer for the Stones, new book "Sound Man." Interesting stories, skimpy on details about actual songs, this tidbit jumped out.
He was a failed singer, at one time recording "Lady Jane" with Brian Jones adding sitar. It's there on You Tube.

Just finished the book. Its a great experience. Glyn was right there in the thick of it and I had no idea how much. In fact he did the Eagles Desparado! ...and I love his remarks about Yoko as they mirror my own puzzlement...

Reading about the mixing mastering and recording processes may be boring to some but I find it fascinating and really enjoyed Glyn's book. I think its equally fascinating that he NEVER tried any drugs through it all. He doesn't mention booze so maybe that was his poison.

If you ended up liking this book I highly encourage you to read another great sound mans book "Making Rumours" by Ken Caillat. That guy had to deal with real bullshit to come out with some of the platinum sellers he did...

On to "All The Rage" now...
