Gazza, completely agree with you on lost opportunities for LA 75, but take solace that we've got 2 1975 shows in pristine sound and quality as well as Hampton 81 available - it's great. It also rectifies some of the past release mistakes and pretty much, at least for me, leaves Love You Live (except the El Mocambo side), Still Life, and Let's Spend the Night Together to gather dust. I  also don't think Four Flicks will be viewed in the next decade.

oh, I'm pleased to see its coming out. But three different shows instead of two wouldnt have been that hard to do. If youre going to aim a project at collectors, then it makes sense to maximise the likelihood of them buying each release.

The Stones Archives download series was very welcome and enjoyable - but re-issuing them all again on vinyl/CD (Brussels Affair was already issued on vinyl - if you wanted to pay several hundred quid for a couple of concert tickets) is a bit of a swizz, which is sadly typical of Stones Inc.

And it pisses me off, that with all the various permutations of the Hampton release, that if I want to buy the CD AND the best video quality release (ie, blu ray) of what is one of my favourite shows,  I have to buy it twice.  You could get Sweet Summer Sun in multiple formats in the same deluxe package, so its really not rocket science.

'Lets Spend The night Together;' is visually terrific, but musically unlistenable due to having something like 22 songs edited to fit into a 90 minute movie, effectively removing about half an hour of music. Unfortunately, it'll never get a 'directors cut' with the missing footage restored.

Bought it today and tried to watch it.
Just a big disappointment that is.
Mostly filmed either from far away or from the back.
After a few songs I decided that I had enough seen of Ollie Brown's back.

Wished instead of this they had released the 1976 'Live at the Abattoire' that was
so much better filmed.

Shit happens. Just my 2 cts.

Just got this yesterday and think it's fantastic. The DVD looks fine (not a big fan of HD anyway) and I actually like the back of the stage shots, very interesting perspective.

The CD show sounds great, and this era ('75-'77) has always been one of my fave era's for the band, especially for Charlie's drumming. Too bad the El Mocombo gigs didn't get filmed or more usable audio.
Hilarious how on "Happy" Keith completely fucks up and turns the beat around and Charlie has to quick play catch-up.

This could be a really great series ('From the Vaults') if Stones Inc. stick with it, maybe as great as Dylan's 'Bootleg Series'.

Been listening to the CD's. They rock. This is a concept I can get behind. Release well known bootlegged show in a cleaned up, tightend up CD format. In pother words, bootlegging for dummies!  You rock!

Absolutely, SCL. I'm guessing we'll never get 'Get Your Leeds Lungs Out' due to the first two songs being missing (pretty low energy gig anyway, IMO), and I don't understand why they didn't add the CDs for 'Ladies and Gentlemen...' - or maybe the '72 Philly tapes cleaned up a bit.
But yeah, this could really be a very exciting project - never mind when they start digging into the studio stuff! (btw - what ever happened to the expanded 'Sticky Fingers' release?).

No idea.

Always thought it was a potentially strange choice anyway, seeing as we've had an expanded Exile and about half the songs on BOTH the original Exile and the extra disc originate from the Sticky Fingers sessions  (or earlier)

Have never really been convinced that there's much mileage in expanded versions of old albums, personally. The two they did put out, while very enjoyable musically, were only fully realised due to a combination of new overdubs, new lyrics and questionable research regarding the authenticity of the dates given for the original basic tracks (eg "Title 5" is no more an 'Exile' outtake than "Doom and Gloom" is, and some of the songs on disc 2 of "Some Girls" werent even begun until after the original album was released)

I'm unconvinced that there are that many finished original songs in the Stones vaults. Most of what is finished are covers or alternate takes of released material. Its pretty evident from the hundreds of studio bootlegs down the years that finished lyrics and final vocal takes are added pretty late on in the recording process, which pretty much makes the chances of most Stones albums having a surplus of several finished songs as highly implausible - if they're finishing lyrics at the eleventh hour to get a record ready they're very unlikely to waste resources on finishing lots of extra songs.

I think you'd be lucky to assemble a 3-CD set of finished outtakes spanning their entire studio recording career. And probably about half of those would be covers like "Still a Fool", "Drift Away", "For Your Precious Love" and the like.
