HA!
A trick question indeed!
Well played my friend, well played.

I was only considering the 5
studio albums they have rushed out to give us
over the last 30 years...

Pity they relegated the best mix of Plundered My Soul (ie, the one with more Taylor) to a download single instead of putting it on the Exile bonus disc.

best song theyve released in the last 30 years? (ie, post-Undercover)

Continental Drift. Hearing that for the first time - after thinking the band was finished a couple of years earlier - was a real 'fuck ME!' moment.

'Almost Hear You Sigh' would be up there too with a few others like 'Love is strong' (the last GREAT Stones single), 'How Can I Stop' and 'Laugh I Nearly Died'. The reworked 'No Spare Parts' is pretty wonderful too.

Best Stones riff in all that time (and a good track too) - Dangerous Beauty

I have to say I'm still liking "Doom and Gloom".

Plundered ,Following the River,LIND,Love is Strong,Under the Radar,The Worst,AHYS,Dirty Work,Continental Drift,Thief in the Night,Moon is Up,Highwire,Already over Me,Out of Control and Saint of Me...... are all great IMHO. I'll probably have a completely different list next week.

Three.

All the same take, but different mixes. The album version, the single and the radio mix which was only available as a promo.

The album version is the one which (inexcusably) features Taylor the least.

If the visuals dont give you a stiffy, the guitar playing certainly will

Yes, that is the version where Taylor comes in at around the 44 second mark and it is much better.

Seems odd they put the inferior mix on the album.

Maybe the logic was the less people knew Taylor had been brought in for overdubs the better. In the interviews when the album came out, Taylor said he had been, Keith flat out denied it and Jagger stayed on the fence!

I want to see everyones 12 song playlist, order doesn't matter, of the best songs fitting this criteria of released in the past 30 years.
Go over 12 and you will be disqualified, I will be judging and picking a winner, based on my opinion and no one else…
but seriously, make a playlist, Now!!!

Continental Drift??? Are you people with just poor taste or tards? Steel Wheels is an abysmal album, pretty much Dirty Work part 2. The tour was great, yeah yeah, Mick sang in tune, there were horns and backup singers and shit (although still the guitar solos on Flashpoint are just terrible; something might have happened when they returned with Voodoo Lounge, which still sorta sound 'eh' to me, and the tour, where Ronnie and Keith improved - Keith's for sure; his Boston '93 concert is fuckin' phenomenal, including the ten minute "Happy", now Ronnie, well he's okayish but Mick simply has turned into an imitation of a baboon singing more and more year after year, only doing sometimes good in the studio, but live??? Yeesh) but at least until I rediscovered Undercover, I've yet to hear something of quality from these dudes. Voodoo Lounge might be even tolerable, but Bridges To Babylon and and a Bigger Bang??? Shit and well, a smear of shit over a smudge of dried puke over three weeks old on a toilet stall on a truck stop leading to San Antonio, TX.
Get the shit off of your ears guys. It's obviously Plundered My Soul, and Plundered my soul ONLY, which pretty much is not really the best song they've released in thirty years; it's a song recorded FORTY THREE years ago with some lyrics done now for good measure. And obviously, with Taylor.

Well...the task given was a 12 song list of studio work released post Undercover.
I, myself do not consider PMS as following the criteria. re: CD...YES! I think it is a great song...as I do all the others on my list.
I just happened to have cleaned out my ears just yesterday and Continental Shift sounded even better.

BTW 780...I don't see a list from you...

Continental Drift is the one Stones song that hubby can play on his radio show and guarantee at least on person will call in to ask -"Who the F is that?"  And true to form the caller is always surprised and then asks which album it's on. It's a great track!

That said my 12 post Undercover - not in any real order

1. Love is Strong
2. Infamy
3. Doom and Gloom
4. Spider and the Fly - Stripped
5. Plundered My Soul
6. We Almost Had It All
7. Oh No Not You Again
8. Almost Hear You Sigh
9. Slippin' Away
10. Thru and Thru
11. Claudine
12. Baby Break It Down - I love the groove on that

Honorable Mention: 2,000 Light Years From Home from Live at Max.  That blew me away when I watched the first time.

From Dirty Work:
One Hit
Harlem Shuffle
Stu's piano thingy at the end

From Steel Wheels:
Terrifying
Hearts For Sale
Almost Hear You Sigh
Continental Drift
Slipping Away

From Voodoo Lounge:
Love Is Strong
Thru And Thru

From Bridges To Babylon:
Saint Of Me
Out Of Control

From 40 Licks:
Don't Stop

From Grrrr!:
Doom And Gloom

Didn't count the extended Exile and SG sets. Would've added YGMR a few years ago but I can't hear that song anymore because the boys burnt up too much space at gigs with it in the past two decades..

...and still nothing from 90210 or whatever his name is...

Come on dude...give us a list and let it all be in the past...no hard feelings here...

Some folks here actually don't like Exile...but we don't ban them or anything...excommunicate...maybe...but we don't banish them...

If it didn't have the 80s production and weak lyrics, I would go with Continental Drift by a long way, but it still bothers me to hear the greatness of that song destroyed by the production and lazy lyrics.

Plundered My Soul gets my vote, followed by, in no particular order:

One Hit (again minus 80s production)
Sleep Tonight
Too Rude
Almost Hear You Sigh
Mixed Emotions
The Worst
Moon Is Up
Do You Think I Really Care
Doom and Gloom
I Go Wild
Back of My Hand
The Storm
Fancyman Blues
Hearts for Sale
Slipping Away

Way to go, newbie! Insult everyone who likes Stones material after Undercover.

Well, it all sounds like shit to me (except for Voodoo Lounge, as I've said - MAYBE) and I'm entitled to my opinion. Oh wait, no. I'm entitled to the facts. Keef's own Main Offender pisses on Steel Wheels.

A twelve song list huh?

WELL...this is what I can listen to:

(in random order, and not counting Plundered My Soul)

Love Is Strong
You Got Me Rocking
Don't Stop
Mean Disposition
Thru And Thru
How Can I Stop
Thief In The Night
Flip The Switch
Baby Break It Down
The Worst
New Faces

I guess that's it. Don't hold me to it though.

I may be a newbie but I know my shit about these guys, and went to enough concerts for me to be able to judge it. After all this is a fan board, not a fanboy board is it now?

If so, go to acdcfans.net.

Missing the point, laddie.

No one has any issues with you not liking a song (calling this a 'fanboy' board is so wide of the mark it's beyond fucking laughable)

Having an opinion is one thing. Insulting people because they like something you dont is another.

SO SAY WE ALL!

========================================================
And 780...that is not a bad list at all...i personally loath Flip The Switch...but hey...if it tickles you where it counts...all the better for you, right?

I believe they were employed by the great sultans of old...usually waving a palm frond or such to keep the lounge cool... These kings also used grapeboys and toweletteboys...

Well, you know how to insult somebody, that's for sure. On the other hand, you're the only one that picked "Thief in the night". With "Brand new car" my favorites. And I'm not even a big Keith solo fan.
