I read his books aloud to my son instead of nursery rhymes when he was a baby. Magical realism and an exquisite command of language. Rest in peace.

His work was a stepping stone towards other monumental literature. I owe him for that. Marquez' major works have that extra spark that puts it in a league only few enter: you know it'll be around for centuries to come.
