Fashion designer laid to rest in Hollywood cemetery amid tight security at small private funeral

L’Wren Scott has been laid to rest at a small private funeral in Los Angeles where her long-time boyfriend Sir Mick Jagger led the mourning for the fashion designer.
About 70 family and friends were reported to have attended the ceremony at the famed Hollywood Forever Cemetery where stars such as Jayne Mansfield and Rudolph Valentino are buried.
Security personnel far outnumbered mourners as the main gates to the cemetery were closed to the public and media and all vehicles were searched for cameras before entering the site.
Miss Scott’s body was flown to Los Angeles from New York at the weekend accompanied by her brother, Randall Bambrough, who identified her after she committed suicide on March 17 in her Manhattan apartment.
Sir Mick, who is staying in a Beverly Hills hotel after ending his Rolling Stones tour to Australia, was accompanied to the funeral by his six adult children - daughters Karis, Elizabeth, Georgia May and Jade and sons James and Gabriel– and his grand-daughter Amba Jackson, Jade’s daughter.

Mr Bambrough was reported to have been barred by Miss Scott’s only other sibling, her older sister Jan Shane, from the ceremony because the two women were estranged as a result of a family rift following their mother’s death six years ago.
Among the guests were close friends of Ms Scott from the fashion industry and her company, including Brittany Penebre, her long-time assistant who found her employer’s body.
Miss Scott had sent a text message to Ms Penebre at 8.30am on day of her death, asking her to “come by” at 10am. When the assistant arrived, there was no answer, but she let herself into the apartment and found Ms Scott hanged.

Miss Scott was raised by her adoptive parents in northern Utah and made her name as a model and stylist based in Los Angeles but in recent years she ran her fashion design business from New York and London.
A spokesman for Sir Mick said that the decision to bury Miss Scott in Los Angeles was a taken jointly by the Rolling Stones star and her brother. Mrs Shane had previously said that she hoped her sister would be buried in the family plot in Ogden, Utah, next to her parents.
Karis Jagger, who was close to Miss Scott and lives in Los Angeles, helped organise the funeral for her father.
She was pictured at the weekend touring different cemeteries and is understood that she was looking for a setting with the most privacy for the ceremony.
Sir Mick has only been seen briefly since arriving in the city, appearing on the balcony of his hotel room on Monday, the shock and pain at Miss Scott’s death clearly etched in his face as he gazed into the distance for a short time before returning inside his room.
The family has taken over a floor of the hotel. Jade Jagger, who is seven months pregnant, was given special dispensation by insurers to fly to Los Angeles for the funeral from her home in Ibiza.
