Hate it When You Leave is a really great tune, but dont we have all of these songs already on other various CD's? Is there anything new here?

I think the song "Hurricane" is one that wasn't released on any of Keith's previous three albums.

It was given out at some US shows in November 2005  in return for a donation to the Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

I think the track (its a bit of a stretch to call it a 'song') was recorded during the 'Licks' sessions in May 2002.

Been away for a week or so and wasnt sure if the news of this release had been posted previously - I dont believe it was, so thanks for doing so.

Also coming in November (on the 23rd , to be exact) are TWO vinyl boxed sets of the Stones original albums in remastered form.

The first one covers the UK releases for the period from 1964 to 1969 and includes the first two UK albums and both 'Big Hits' compilations released by ABKCO for the first time. It also includes the first two EP's. In total, it's 13 discs (9 studio albums, 2 compilations, 2 EPs)

...

Summary from 'Acoustic Sounds' -

For the first time in history, the Rolling Stones, ABKCO and Universal Music have joined forces to offer two vinyl box set collections spanning more than 40 years of the Rolling Stones' career. This 1964-1969 set contains the following releases all pressed on 180-gram vinyl: The Rolling Stones (EP), The Rolling Stones (UK), Five By Five (EP), The Rolling Stones No. 2, Out Of Our Heads (UK), Aftermath (UK), Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) (UK), Between The Buttons (UK), Their Satanic Majesties Request, Beggars Banquet, Through The Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) (UK), Let It Bleed and Metamorphosis. The first five titles in the set are presented in their original mono format, affording, for the first time in years, an opportunity for Stones fans to enjoy remastered versions of the tracks "I Can't Be Satisfied," "Time Is On My Side" (version two) and "Down The Road Apiece" as originally released.  Through The Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) is included with its original octagonal cover and artwork intact.

The second box  covers the studio albums from 1971 to 2005. 10 single LP's and four doubles (Exile, Voodoo Lounge, Bridges and Bigger Bang)

...

'Acoustic Sounds' -

The Rolling Stones 1971-2005 Limited Edition Remastered Vinyl Box Set is an individually numbered collection that encompasses four decades of Stones classics and the vinyl complement to the recent CD remasters set. The box set includes 14 remastered Rolling Stones studio albums all on heavyweight 180-gram virgin vinyl, four of which are double LPs including the recently reissued Exile On Main Street double LP, subject of a recent documentary and expanded Deluxe and Super Deluxe Edition box set. The albums are Sticky Fingers, Goat's Head Soup, It's Only Rock 'n Roll, Black And Blue, Some Girls, Emotional Rescue, Tattoo You, Undercover, Dirty Work, Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge (two LPs), Bridges To Babylon (two LPs) and A Bigger Bang (two LPs). It's the first vinyl reissue in decades for Goat's Head Soup, It's Only Rock 'n Roll, Black And Blue, Emotional Rescue, Tattoo You, Undercover, Dirty Work and Steel Wheels. Be sure to also check out the companion to this release, The Rolling Stones 1964-1969 Vinyl Box Set. Both box sets are a must-have addition to any Stones collector.

As an old audiophile I might be missing something but if they are remastered using digital techniques is there any advantage in then having them on vinyl?  I am happy to listen to Aftermath on a CD going down the road but at home it has to be off original vinyl.

I would say no. It's just another thing to add to the collection.

I will continue to listen to my original pressings of the stones albums and skip this god damned best of the Winos since I have it all but Hurricane on CD.
