Flashpoint

I have just recently discovered Flashpoint, and am amazed by it. I can't stop listening to it. Does anyone else feel this same way. In addition, I can't believe how the infamous solo in Start Me Up which appears on the album, was performed. The quality of it is impressive, it sure has evolved over the years.

I'm not a fan to be honest, especially considering the number of fabulous boots from the tour. Flashpoint is heavily overdubbed and the recordings are too polished for my ears.

good record, despite a too much robotic sound for me and too much Matt clifford as well LOL. Ouch!
I do prefer the Paint it Black version from SAL for example.

Alex is right, many boots from the tour sounds better than Flashpoint! Kiss my undercover ass

Atlantic city is THE must have of the tour IMHO.

I really like that album too, but I never knew it was heavily overdubbed. I got freaked out when I heard "paint it black, you devil" on it. Thought I was losing it for a minute. Just a minute though.

Flashpoint is great!  I once made a mix tape of the CD and the "7 vinyl b-sides like Play with Fire and Factory Girl, and that got a lot of carplay.  Track down those Flashpoint outtakes, some or all available on CD singles like Highwire.  It was all we had of that tour once, apart from the PPV Atlantic City "Terrifying," if one was lucky enough to tape that.

Whatever its sins, Flashpoint is way smarter and more entertaining than the idiotically-programmed No Security disc of lacklustre performances.  If more people than us were interested, No Security could have killed the Stones' live and recorded career.  Like anybody needed "Corrina, Corrina," or Taj Mahal, the Keb' Mo of the 1960s-1970s.  Taj has all the credibility of longtime Ann Arbor street performer/character Shakey Jake.

Shakey Jake thread, anybody?

Flashpoint has the best version of Sympathy for the Devil...to my ears at least.  Flashpoint is also the home of Sexdive and Highwire, two great tracks.

Start Me Up once blew out the right channel of a 400 watt amp in 1993. Awesome stuff!

IMO Flashpoint was one of the worst official live releases.  Hirewire was not a bad tune though.

I can't stand the piped in music on SFTD.  Its been that way way ever since.

I kinda like Highwire and the album is not so bad, the sound is a bit polished.
