YES!! The Macca Appreciation Thread

Yes. It was bound to happen! Like the blows that whistles. Macca is, after all, the Mozart of rock. (That is: he was killed by his jealous rival Brian Jones, by drowing him with elephant tranquilizers.)

And, the jokes we've heard them all before will be welcomed. Angela Lansbury look-a-like; marrying man of one legged hookers; lame veggie; etc. But THERE'S NO DENYING A SIMPLE FACT: "Silly Love Songs" is the disco equivalent of "It's only rock'n'roll": Both hated by pretentious pompous critics who suck ass, incapable of putting two notes together. If SLV would have been written by Brian Wilson, they would have praised him til death,

Where does one start? From the classics: Ram, Band On The Run, Venus And Mars (better than anything that thay gay-o Bowie will ever make in his tremendously overrated career. You're right, Keith Richards: heroin comes from coconut trees.)

Where one shouldn't start? With live albums. Like Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out

Which is the most underrated of his underrated albums? Back To The Egg, London Town (FUCK YOU ROLLINGSTONE(magazine).com; but some of your stuff are good, especially in the porn section). Wild Life (yes).

I know that some of you posters (2 or 3) are more than willing to take Macca in your hearts. That is why I shake hands with them from a distance. And for the rest of you, who mock us and disrespect us: BOO. Shame on you. Not liking Macca is like not liking young blonde cheerleaders who sit on your face.

i love macca!
underrated does not even begin to describe his place in rock and roll.
macca was the other half of what made the lennon/mac so genius -
not the soft part, which is what he is always accused of, but he was a great rocker -
he was responsible for most the early beatles rockers ....
and what can you say about his bass work that hasn't been said...
amazing and competely original.
yes, macca is a genius.

Sir Paul McCartney has signed with Penguin Young Readers Group to publish his children's picture book, "High in the Clouds: An Urban Furry Tale," in the United States on October 4, 2005. The initial US print-run is planned at 500,000 copies.

"Having worked on this story and the characters for many years, it's very exciting for me to see things come to fruition in what I think will be a remarkable book," said Paul McCartney.

For the project, McCartney teamed up with veteran children's book author, Philip Ardagh and animator, Geoff Dunbar. The story for High in the Clouds was inspired by an animated film called "Tropic Island Hum" on which Dunbar and McCartney had collaborated.

"This is going to be a major best-seller for us, and I know that a whole new generation of readers will become fans of Paul," says Doug Whiteman, the President of Penguin Young Readers Group who brokered the deal with the Editorial Director of Faber and Faber UK; Suzy Jenvey.

The book will be published under the Dutton Children's Book imprint of Penguin Young Readers Group, a division of Penguin Group (USA).
