bbbggA Historic Day People!!!

On April 17th 1964, the Rolling Stones very 1st album was released!

1964.04.17 - "The Rolling Stones" -- the band's very first Long Play album is released with over 100,000 advance copies sold the first week!(in the UK)

Here's a great quote from an online Irish Music Site celebrating the fact this very morning:

Even all these years later, the album is fabulous! The Rolling stones at their early best, rip-roaring their way through blues, Rhythm & blues, and visceral rock'n'roll, a thrilling set of tunes.

It's the sound of Jagger and Richards igniting the fire that would burn brightly and controversially for the next 45 years and counting, a wonderful document of early British Rhythm and Blues at it's most white hot and addictive.

The 12-track record is as enthralling and thrilling as it was in '64. Music that you will grow to love if you have not heard it before. Buy it today and transport yourself back forty years, you won't be disappointed!

The Charts, 1964 & 2008:

I copied/pasted this from a similar article on iorr, great he mentioned these charts -  Have a look - the week it was released, it went to Number 1 and stayed there for 6 months --- and exactly 46 years later, the Stones' are still kicking, they're currently at Number 2 in the UK charts!

Yeah, that 1st album was so different then anything else on the music scene at the time, with just the words "England's Newest Hitmakers" first time I think, that English white boys doing blues in that way, wailing harmonica from Brian & Mick, looking at the charts with some of the other groups (DC5, Hollies, Searchers & even The Beatles) from the list, the Stones were playing Chicago Blues (Honest I do/I just want to male love to you/I'm a King Bee/ you can make it if you try) which wasn't done before, maybe I'm wrong, John Mayall was doing it, but not on the hit parade, the Stones opened the doors for other blues bands (Animals/Yardbirds/Them/Pretty Things, etc) a great first album.

Agreed. I think they changed the face of pop/rock music as much as the Beatles did. {Beatles more "pop", Stones "r&b}}

Unbelievably exciting back then!
