Here's what Maroon 5 told Hollywood Life:

Everyone knows Maroon 5’s monster hit ‘Moves Like Jagger’ so the idea from Adam
came very easily to have them perform it with Mick and the gang. Adam feels that it
would be great to get the Stones to a newer audience and it would clearly help their
tour as it also would be a dream come true for Maroon 5 to perform with such icons

This exact logic holds up for Jagger individually. $10 million of free advertising for
the tour. Mick takes all the flack from the purists, while the Stones reap all the
benefits. As usual.

I don't think Mick will touch the knee/no knee issue.  A duet with Gladys Knight on the National Anthem would be more likely. 

As a matter of fact, though I loved Gladys in the 1970s and frequently hear a GK/Pips song in my head (because I can't hear them on the radio) - Mick should take a lesson from her opportunism.  And probably has.
