There was a discussion on a Shidoobee facebook page the other day where they reckoned that there was no way the Stones would ever do anything as cheesy as allow their songs to be used in a musical. Think I was pretty much alone in suggesting that a band who promoted their new single on a daytime soap (Days of Our Lives) would have no qualms about a musical if the money was right.

I rest my case!  ;D

Gazza, you know that I am fully with you on the readiness of the Stones to sell out at the drop of a hat, but I just wonder if this is more about Mick trying to help out the mother of his son and help her out in establishing herself and, thereby, his son. He gets little commercial gain from this.

Surely this w/could be well classy rather than well cheesy, or both in a very lovely way.

Yes I think this project gives MICK something to do with his baby-mama. A family project that shows off Melanie's talents and promotes Rolling Stones music is a win-win for both of them.

I do not think she needs Mick ( or anyone) to show off her talents...they certainly speak for themselves...alter all...she is in The American Ballet Theatre...and has held many featured roles.

Thats not to say that she isn't above participating one what would be Jagger's next vanity project...

TRIVIA...Melanie...was only 2 years old when Steel Wheels was released. She received a copy of Forty Licks for her 15th birthday, played it once (disk 2 only, as that had 2 new songs) and has listened to it only a few times since.

Why we don't have an album tonight instead of froo-froo, OK?

(No offense to Voo and daughter.)

Fair enough, but there is a different level of exposure with his name attached to it and in terms of breaking out on her own, it should help to have his internationally recognized name attached. If she did this without his name, it would attract some in the media, but with his name, it is easily multiples more.

Yes, it's about the money and putting something together for the Mom & baby, but there's more.

A ballet production probably would have come about at some point in time, but not necessarily when Mick would be around to supervise.
I'm guessing this has been on his mind for some time with conditions finally coming together enough to get this happening.

Yes Carly, Mick is vain.

We've gotten Symphonic Stones. Now a ballet.
The only thing left is Broadway.
Mick and Keith do a "Springsteen" show. Talk about and play songs for 90 minutes.
Tickets will be a thousand dollars each and will sell out for months.

Russia premiere

Russian ballet moves like Jagger in Stones-inspired show
Wednesday, March 27, 2019 4:54 a.m. CDT

ST PETERSBURG, Russia (Reuters) - A ballet set to music by The Rolling Stones and choreographed by Mick Jagger's ballerina girlfriend has premiered in Russia.

The eight-minute "Porte Rouge" (Red Door) show, inspired by the veteran British singer's zany dance style, delighted a packed crowd at St Petersburg's famous Mariinsky Theatre on Tuesday night.

Jagger's partner Melanie Hamrick, a U.S. dancer, masterminded the production featuring classic Stones tracks "Paint it Black," "Sympathy for the Devil" and "She's a Rainbow".

"I tried to incorporate that feel of just the love of dance and the enjoyment when he is in concert," Hamrick said.

"He has a very unique way of moving, a very free way of moving, so I tried to capture the essence of that."

Jagger, now 75, curated the music and helped whittle down the tracklist from the Stones' litany of hits.

"Very impressive, it is interesting to see the songs we all know in this style. The choreography is original, so it was very cool, I think," said spectator and dancer Nicolas Mackay.

I would see this if it's timed right, especially during Stones week in June in NJ. Cash in on the Stones vibe? bank on it!
