Question ( a real one, not my usually cynical ones)..."No Filter"...does that even make sense in these Euro countries? Is that term used over there?

Wondering....

Presumably 'No Trousers' was the secondary option.

Happy days.

"As always, the Rolling Stones will treat their European fans to a set list packed full of classics such as ‘Gimme Shelter’, ‘Paint It Black’, ‘Jumpin Jack Flash’, ‘Tumbling Dice’ and ‘Brown Sugar’, but they will also include a couple of unexpected tracks each night, and randomly selected surprises from their formidable arsenal of songs. For all of the European No Filter shows listed below the Stones will be unveiling a spectacular new production and state of the art stage design"

It's always nice to see that the Stones are hitting the road.

I think there won't be a new album at all this year, and that they will largely ignore the hit record Blue & Lonesome.

Post by Bitch on May 9th, 2017 at 10:09pm
I'm thinking about the meaning of the No Filter tour name. It reminds me of back in the day when cigarettes were sold without filters. The smoke was very raw. So No Filter may symbolize the music will be very raw and unfiltered, possibly unplugged style or just the opposite, a more electric style with no filters meaning cutting down on the gimmicks and extras.

I can't figure out the pricing...

What's "regular" and what's "no filter pit"
(at around 200 euro)

I guess both are field tickets but very pricey, and  they seem to be more expensive than the seats???

I'm gonna try and pre-order on the app
tomorrow. I can already feel it will be a disaster...

Perhaps the intention is to keep UK and Euro dates separate and to do gigs in London (and Glasgow and Skeggy) as a mini-tour, titled 'Off Kilter' or 'None Filthier'; or similar.

Its now 10th May, the summer tour plans were scrapped some time ago, Croke Park has already had its permitted allocation of concerts for the year confirmed weeks ago and this guy has just figured out they wont be playing there this summer?

No. Not tax reasons. Thats a non issue.

The tour was rumoured to be September - November.  The crew are contracted to November, I understand.

So as there are no dates scheduled after October 22nd, it is possible that there's room for a UK visit after Paris.

If it is, its a bit of a shitty bait and switch as I'm sure a lot of fans there will book trips to the continent assuming we're not getting any shows.

They really should have made some statement clarifying that they are or are not planning UK shows on this leg.

The Stones always do this because they want us all to buy the first round of tickets, and then they add additional shows after the first ones sell out. There is always a surprise or two. But 13 shows per tour seems to be the new normal so maybe this is it for now and they will see how it goes.

I want London shows too!

Tried my luck on the app presale for Italy tickets, but the stupid Ticketone site kept requesting a captcha and then saying there were no tickets available over and over again (till finally there REALLY were no tickets available). And I hit that button at precisely 10.00 o' clock  :D Hope I'm luckier when they go on general sale in a couple of days.

P.S. Those are some crazy ticket prices.

right in front of the stage...

And I was lucky cos they were the ONLY tickets available...

or wait...

Maybe not...

Maybe I just bought 4 fucking tickets at 330 euros each to be in the fucking stands!!!!

"Category GOLD" as it turns out, is NOT the same as "pelouse OR",

Though GOLD mean OR in French... just to confuse things...

I hope they do a few shows in London at least. I know you will make your way to see them most likely one way or another and for the fans across the pond I am truly happy for ya-all ..  (don't forget.. it is a brand new show / stage etc. That is gonna be cool).

The general sale for Lucca tickets began 3 minutes ago. I was there, clicked with the speed of light, got the "no tickets available, try again". I keep trying and no luck. I mean, why on earth can't they get an online system that actually works for tickets? Why do we need to suffer this craziness? Argh.

I remember that.
If I recall correctly, ( and there is a good chance that I dont) there was some "quite change" in the UK tax corporate code that would have had them pay taxes on ALL shows played in that year IF they even played ONE show in the UK...prolly not at the same rate as the actual UK shows, I would assume...but it was something like that...so maybe the UK will get a few nice shows next RS fiscal year if those laws are still in place.

OFF TOPIC but related...

WHEN...oh WHEN...will The have another ROLLING STONES channel on Sirius XM?
A permanent one I mean...not just a temporary one like in 2005/6.

The BEATLES Channel just starts next  week and it sounds great so far on the promos...I loved The Stones channel back then and now with so many official released shows...there is a treasure trove of materials

The Beatles Channel now joins The Grateful Dead...Springsteen...Tom Petty...Dylan...Elvis...Pearl Jam...Jimmy Buffett...Ozzy...who have dedicate or related channels named for them...The Stones surely can broker a deal for a standing channel

Now back to NO FILTER...

Excellent point Edith...but easy enough IMO to not play the ABKCO stuff...The program director can see to that...but the old stuff is already played on other Sirius channels...
I dont know...Klien has rights to the music...not the Name...who knows...

There are several large sports stadiums in London - all of which have staged major concerts in recent years - Wembley and  Twickenham (rugby stadium) are the biggest and hold over 90,000 and 80,000 respectively.  There's also the London Stadium (the venue for the 2012 Olympics) which has been reduced in capacity but still holds about 65,000 and is now used for home games for West Ham United.  And the Emirates Stadium (Arsenal FC) which holds over 60,000.  And there's also parks such as Hyde Park which get used for several gigs every year.

Football stadiums that are used by club sides pretty much rule those venues out from August onwards. The weather also makes it a non starter once you get into the autumn.  However, Wembley has a roof and could be used anytime (likewise with the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff)

There is a stumbling block with Wembley at the minute though. Tottenham Hotspur are getting a new stadium constructed so will be playing their home games for the 2017-2018 season at Wembley.  So, between August 2017 and May 2018 instead of being used for maybe 8-10 sporting events, the stadium will probably host about 40 games instead. Cant see the FA and Tottenham being  too enthusiastic about letting the pitch be used for concerts in the middle of all that.

They could easily have staged a couple of shows at the 02.

Or even remembered that the UK does exist outside of London and played there.

The story going around is that they got a tax break by deferring the UK dates until the next financial year.

London is wide open.

SG is correct...Wembly Stadium...OPEN...Arena (though Small) OPEN...O2...OPEN...The Intimate Royal Albert Hall is busy...but is open to a point.

Maybe I dont know the venues well enuff in/around London...but there it is...

In re. No Filter...
I dreamerized last night of an album cover - lovelier than Some Grrrls' - decorated with loads of the funniest yet dodgiest, fugliest and least photoshopped old snaps of the Stoonz... Brian ripped to the tits on Dubonnet and anti-depressants, Charlie having a slash in a kitchen sink, Keith snoring, Ron with a crack-pipe up his arse, & so forth.

Happy days.

Preferably in the Soho area (if there is one), or the cool part of the city like "the village", somewhere good to hang out. I read on IORR the venue area sucks. THANKS for any advice!

Definitely a recording session, I'd imagine.

The only way a band would be rehearsing for a tour three months away would be if they'd never played their respective instruments before.

Plus, its in a recording studio - not a rehearsal space.

They wouldnt be likely to start rehearsals until about mid-August at the earliest.

No doubt it's not rehearsals. It's weird that someone would think otherwise and print it.
I'm still not holding my breath for a new release let alone one that the majority of tracks don't sound like they could be on a Jagger solo release a la ABB.

I upgraded to the No Filter Pit for Paris 22/10/2017, so am selling my Golden Square (Carre Or) ticket for below face value as I want it shifted asap.

I paid 331,50 euros for it (£286 plus fees) but am selling it for £280.

It's in block 116 right next to Keith's side of the stage.

Because it was in a newspaper. Not a music site.

Journalists and the general public dont see the Stones as a functioning current band who make records - just one that tours.  The fact that they're touring this year has been well reported - their on-off recording schedule isn't really of interest to hardly anyone.

Mind you, its an easy mistake to make.  Its not as if the Stones have done much in recent years to discourage the image of them being a nostalgia act.

Zip Code was a play on the words since it was a quasi-promo for the Sticky Fingers anniversary...the album which had a ZIPPER on the cover...but also the city thing too...a tour that included one city that doesn't have a zip code...

I also have a hard time believing that Jagger will be touring with a NO FILTER attitude...the man is a control freak

From what I can tell on RS.com...none of the shows are sold out (Close...very close...but not quite).
I just pulled a center stage in front of the catwalk seat for 500 Euros...I didnt buy it...but there are a fair number of seats available in that price range and vicinity .

From this thread it would seem that there is little hype about this tour...of course, being in the US, I wouldn't know what the "buzz feeds" are saying...The tour starts in less than a month...I wonder if this will determine if Jagger's ego will say "no mas" to touring if No Filter fails to sell out...though I am sure the RS machine will assure it does in the end...isnt that what "lucky dips" are there for?

How about doing smaller venues at reasonable prices. Or would that be too much for the machine?

This will be the first Stones European tour of any kind that I've missed since 1976. I was only 12-13 then and wasn't a fan, mind you.

On tours like 1998 and 2014 when they skipped the UK, I always went to see at least one show on the continent.

Absolutely no interest in paying those prices to see the same songs again in venues of that size.

Less than a week to go for the tour opener! Maybe a pop-up club show in London?

Unless its a free show it wont happen...and THAT won't happen...but it is a nice thought...maybe they will hold that off until Paris for you Bitch!!
After all...3 shows...the only repeat city on the tour

If they fail to play 2-3 songs from Blue and Lonesome this tour might as well not exist. Not holding my breath though

OK I thought since they were rehearsing in London there could of been a club show but too late now.

I bought Lucky Dips for all 3 shows in Paris! AND if the expensive seats aren't selling out, those seats go to the Lucky Dippers. That's what happens, or you get the worst seats. I've been very happy with the Dips seat locations in Boston x 2, Philly x 2, DC, Nashville, Orlando! I couldn't afford to go otherwise so I love the Stones for inventing this for the RS.com insiders.  :P
