I say no, but I'd like an album like this:
1 blues cover
1 blues original
1 motown cover
1 keith rocker
1 keith ballad
3-5 Stonesy rockers
1-2 "experimental" (think Continental Drift, Juiced)
2-3 "alt-country" rockers
1-2 country covers (Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson, etc)
1 rockabilly cover

IF and that's a big IF they do a new album, hopefully it will be complete "Stones" and not half that belong on a Jagger solo release a la ABB.

If word gets out the stones are recording a new album, we gotta send cover suggestions to Chuck or Darryl on their blogs..it will almost certainly be the last time they put out new material as a group!

Bastrads indeed.  I cannot figure out why they can't see that their good albums are 10 songs long.  This seems such a no-brainer.  Good rock album = 40 - 45 minutes.  Bad rock album = 62 minutes+

For such an economic minded muther Jagger can sure have trouble doing math sometimes.

All I want is some meaningful lyrics and some great musicianship.

I'm afraid something like that would come off as a hackneyed "tribute" record or something, along the lines of Aerosmith's gawd-awful Honkin' on Bobo.

Just gimme the rock and roll, Ronnie!

One last drum bangin', guitar strumming, saxophone laced, keyboard bangin', hormonica playing medley of songs covering all the genres that have become the music that we love.

Personally, a blues/Motown type thing would be the most boring thing i could imagine. They aint ever gonna do it. They aint never done it. Just gimme some of those sweet, sweet unreleased gems and i'll be happy. I dont want a new album. Whats the point? It will sell shit and 99% of you all will bag it.

As much as I hate to say it, based on the boring and forgettable ABB they probably shouldn't bother, heck even Whitesnake's latest opus is a better listen !

No!

Because their playin isn't good enough and particularly in these music genres they won't deliver these days.
They can can better hide their limitations in straight rock or ballads.

I don't get why people would rather them release albums with covers.  I would much have something original from them.

What is the interest of having The Rolling Stones (of all groups) do an entire album of cover tracks...??

That would be some what of a complete waist of a new release in my book.

I want a brand new album. A totally new effort and product with all new songs that we have never heard before.

*Remember, The Rolling Stones are not a Rod Stewart 2007 style gig guys. I appreciate the thought but I surely would be more than extremely disappointed if The Stones did an all cover album, even if it would be an all blues affair. I would be semi-embarrassed actually that they did not put out a brand new album of their own stuff. A blues cover is fine live. But a brand new release after four years of cover tunes simply does not interest me much.

Ian
