I didn't pick Keith, Taylor or Ronnie, just curious as to what members like in other lead guitarist outside The Stones, I might have left out some guitarist, but this is classic rock, mostly 60's/70's era.

i'd agree that Slash is one of my faves - although not in the above genre i suppose, yet Van Halen's in it

Most guitarists agree that it's Jimi.

Ok....I had to go with Hendrix because he was just so innovative. But Jeff Beck is quite good as were Stevie Ray Vaughan and Duane Allman....

Now we need a poll for bass players! And drummers... :)

I'm not a guitar player so skill does nothing for me. I go on what I enjoy listening to.
There really is no one close to keef in my book. It's the groove and riff I love.  Keef's feel of the music.
Anyway next for me is Carlos Santana and David Gilmour.

Skydog...........  :willya
His playing and skills would have surpassed Clapton. Which is the exact reason Eric hired Derek Trucks for his last tour. Derek is the closest thing to how Duane would have been.

How about a "Modern Day" poll....??
Derek Trucks
Doyle Bramhall II
Luther Dickenson
DimeBag ...........RIP

I tried to look up as many lead guitarist from what is 'known as Classic Rock-60's/70's, I left out one guitarist which I regret, Johnny Winter (how could I forget him?) some of the posts mentions guitarist from the 50's, & MTV era-80's, but when I thought up this poll, it's just the 60's & 70's, it's like, there's always somebody one forgets, that somebody remembers.

That's from the 50's, & yes, a fantastic guitarist, who influenced Jeff Beck, "Train Kept a Running"  in the 60's done by The Yardbirds, & in the 70's Aerosmith.
